You folks are being very hard on poor Obama.  I have belonged to temple memberships all my life and could care less what the religious leaders think; hell, I don't even know what they think.  I just show up and try to get into an insular trance (like when I have a root canal procedure).

To me, religious views and practices are very private.  So as far as I'm concerned, Obama can go, stay or whatever.  I'm still voting for him.

Good for you!  Religious views are private until you run for President; that's where privacy ends.  I couldn't vote for someone who believed that the Jews killed Jesus and deserved to be punished any more than I could vote for a Muslim who believed all women should wear a veil.  Religious views of an elected leader should be known and examined closely.  They are free to worship or not worship in what ever manner they please, but the voter also have the right to know what they've been listening to every Sunday because it has affected their thoughts and opinions.

Simple answer - WIFE.

What a cop out!

He's sat in a racist church for 20 odd years to please his wife?  Isn't that the woman who said she was ashamed of America?  Maybe he should dissociate himself from her along with Rev. Wright.

I was referring to why I am a member of a temple.  What Obama does religion-wise is his business.

Overall, I am so tired of our supposed need and right to know just what each candidate is doing with his/her religion.  My guess is that everyone of them spouts some sort of religious feeling; whether they really feel anything is up for grabs and none of my business.

So I disagree with your assessment, feeling that religion is entirely private.  I certainly have no interest in the subject and don't want to hear any politician telling me about his/her religious convictions.  I could never vote for a person who keeps telling me - "I am a person of faith".

who is a Jew himself. So, where does that leave us, racism-wise?

Funny you would say the above, because Obama's got a lot more on the ball than you do.  And, he's much more mature.

If I had a privilege of being born Black, trust me, I'd be on top of the world right now.

If it's okay with you, I'd rather reserve my trust.

I don't care what anyone believes.  I just don't want to be punished for something that took place more than 2,000 years ago. :o
