How a music forum can be a home, in times of need.

To Vanessa and I, GMG hs been more than about music. This is best demonstrated this past month when we have been going through our emotional rollercoaster. The emotional support and love from here has been a big part of what has kept us strong. Today, Kimi has finally come home. We are the parents. But I feel there are so many uncles and aunt at GMG. Thank you all!

This may shock you, but I do not visit this or any internet site to experience a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well , there is always a exception on the rule...... ;D

Does anyone wonder what prompted Harry to make these comments, or are you all completely dim?  It is very probably the trouble he got into on another Forum, where he suddenly found himself to be in conflict with the management late last week, and is no longer an active member there.

I'm surprised that no one else appears to have spotted this.  You ought to get around more.  All trace of the conflict at the other Forum was removed on Sunday morning (8th June) by its Administrator.  Incidentally, having followed it all, Harry was perfectly justified in the stance he took, and my only surprise is that he or anyone else bother to waste time their time discussing music with the idiot who runs that Forum.

In fact, having myself once in former times been quite addicted to classical music forums (and having posted profusely under many different names and different personalities), I now consider them all to be mainly a waste of time and tedious beyond belief.  No wonder that many members eventually drop out of active participation.

Now I wonder who is behind the character of Holly, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! ;D

I can't help but notice that this is your post NUMBER ONE. You either made this trip to GMG for the specific purpose of making this post, or you are an existing member too chicken to identify yourself. Pity.

A pity that other Forum has no Harry anymore. No Harry on GMG would mean missing a very characteristic ingredient of the total mix.

Especially lately I have felt myself an outsider here. I can't connect with anything. I suppose it's because I haven't been into classical music this year as much as earlier (however, Beethoven's "Ghost" Trio is playing in the background while I write this). My ideas of music will forever be considered crazy.

Well Bigotry and Narcissism is really hard to combat! :-X
All united, "in a one man administration", and no doubt he will answer these allegations, and deny vehemently that he is as I say. :P

Which forum was it? The one with the perennial right-wing leaflet politics threads topped with some classical music icing?

I'm not quite sure why anyone would hang out at such a forum in the first place.  ??? What is the attraction?

I met there a few fantastic music lovers, and I decided to stay, against my better knowledge, and giving the administrator the benefit of the doubt. So it was to be expected that I would find my Waterloo there, and I did.

"Wellington's Sieg" indeed (to confine myself to the composer dear to the Administrator's heart).

Yes, Johan, that is indeed a very apt observation. :)

I administer a website. At times you need the wisdom of Solomon. Sounds like Harry's "friend" has the wisdom of an ant...

Great place I found here. Stumbled across it through last.fm. I may disappear for a few days as I occasionally sully my ears with "other" music, but my return will always be imminent. The help and generosity shown to me within a few days here I have not experienced elsewhere. Within my first few weeks my musical horizon has changed. Soon I'll be listening to my Douglas Lilburn cd which has just arrived. I'd not heard of him a month or two ago and I have GMG to thank for that!  ;D

Well to my surprise the second posting by Holly was removed...I wonder why, for it was a very good explanation of what happened!
O, well, not that it is that important.

I have enjoyed the Forum, where I have had the opportunity to meet other "so-called Braga Santos experts" (quote from Jezetha) etc. I waste a lot of time at work reading the Forum when I should be working and will probably be sacked and it will be all your fault. It can become a bit addictive, but I really enjoy it.

Well happily I cannot sack myself being boss in my own firm. ;D
So time is well spend! 8)
