I prefer the Blu-Ray player to the HD-DVD player. And until such time as Blu-Ray players can handle CDs, SACDs and DVD-Audio, I will NOT purchase such a player. But I do feel that my SONY must soon be replaced, because if the Video function is "sick", how long do you suppose it will be before the  audio functions succumb to the same or similar illness?
And if you think that it is possible to play CDs on a Blu-Ray player, I'm sorry to have to tell you that you are totally and incontrovertibly WRONG.

Oh my god, you're right, Sony's Blu-Ray player can't play a CD!  That's good news, I think, because it means that Sony will finally fade into the oblivion it deserves.  However Philips will sell you a Blu-ray player that plays CD's.  I'd recommend HD-DVD, however, since Blu-Ray is fated to follow the trail blazed by Sony's other failed formats, SACD and Betamax.

to Iago:
why are you being so rude to other people?

To whom was I rude?  greg? He deserves it.

O common Iago , you have butter on your head. I told you seriously what I thought about the Denon players, and you ignored it.
I don't take you serious anymore.
Oh c'mon Harry. My post criticizing the responses I received was made BEFORE your helpful information.
What am I supposed to do in return? Thank youa million times over? Genuflect as you approach? Or simply listen to what you had to say? Which I did. And this afternoon I purchased the 3930CI. The dealer did not have one on display. But he did have a 3910 on display. I watched the DVD of the Mahler Sym #2 (Abbado/Lucerne Festival Orch) and was mightly impressed. I had been watching it at 480p. The upconversion by the player to 1080i, offered a large and discernible difference to what I had been viewing at home.
Got a good deal too. $150 discount and a credit plan which requires NO principal and NO interest for 15 months, providing the entire balance is paid within that time frame.

Well, you could buy Playstation 3, but I don't know how does the sound/picture quality compare against standalone players. Plus, it might not be as user friendly as stand-alone player. You could play games, though.  ;D
