There may be some music shopping in store for me with all these GMG greatest hits threads popping up. Mozart, now Bach.

What an excuse! ::)

Oh, fie.  A month ago, I had finally got my PC back into disc-burning form . . . and now it seems as if the disc drive doesn't recognize blank discs I feed into it.

Little help?

Opus106

I just broke my first hinge of a 2-CD set.

This is one area where I prefer what the Americans do (compared to what the rest of the world does :D). Two-fers made in the US, from what I've bought, open like a book, the tray holding the CDs are hinged on the inside. Easier to handle, and the CD on the other side facing the floor will not fall down accidentally.

Oh, and I also like how they've named musical notes/durations -- easier to remember. :)

Do you have a sledge hammer?  It might help to approach this Gallagher style. ;D

This guy walks into a pet store.

The parrot there says: "Psst. Hey buddy."

Customer says, "What?"

"Fuck you!"

He can't believe it. "What was that?!"

"Fuck you, you ugly asshole."

The store owner comes running out from the back. "Hey! I told you not to talk to the customers like that. If you do that again, I'm going to feed you to the cats!"

The next day, the guy walks into the pet store again.

The parrot says: "Psst. Hey buddy."

Customer: "What now?'

"You know what."

You sure they've been properly introduced?

DavidW

Those poor cds are being shoved naked and shivering into the pc.  Not even a cup of coffee to chat about things first. :'(  That's why I would take out the sledgehammer to get the job done, but that's also why I should never ever become a marriage counselor! :D

Dr. Dread

C'mon. That joke's funny.

Entirely properly, I give you every strict assurance.

Oh Karl's very British about the whole thing.  He always is. :)

Our Britannic buds on GMG beg to differ  ;) ;D

Seriously, though . . . is this just a mechanical failure, and is the likely 'solution' to (* gasp *) get a new PC?  Or is there some less-dire help?

DavidW

1. Is it a cd burner or just a cd-rom drive?  If just a cd-rom go buy a cd burner.
2. Have you tried another brand of cd-r? If yes, go on.  If no, try another brand.
3. Are you using windows?  If yes, go on.  If no, throw your useless mac away. >:D

No okay seriously if it's a new burner that you just installed you might not have the driver setup right, and the software can't communicate with the hardware.  Have you installed the driver?
