Leading to Nowheresville, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.   :P

Indeed, sir.

I can't believe how many crazy things with text the Japanese do on web forums...

http://mb2.jp/_kei/1.html

a couple:
(●^皿^●)ノ
(゜口゜川)
`・ω・ยด
★ (so many stars...)

and apparently, they can squeeze the whole word for "percent" into one little character, as if imitating "%"...
100㌫
:o

Either they are Unicode experts or they have some type of options I don't know about.

Hey! I like that Avner Dorman CD!
In fact I chose it as a recording of the year over at MusickWebbe.

That thread would probably run to several pages and no doubt would offer plenty to offend nearly everyone!

Farewell, Dave! I look forward to welcoming the Dave-a-Tron 2011. :)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to watch this video and not laugh.

Where is yours, Henk?

I need advice/ideas... please.

This guy (customer at the store) was talking to me for about 10 minutes the day before yesterday. He seems a bit strange... to make it short, clearly he isn't gay or anything but he ended up asking for my cell phone number, and I gave it to him.  :-X (I think he just wants a friend or something.)

I've gotten two calls now from an unknown number, and I think it's him. I really don't feel like hanging out with more people, much less someone who I only talked to ten minutes! In fact, I'm trying to limit my time I'm spending with my friend right now, because with his license suspended he's stuck at home and always wanting to do something.  ::) In a way, besides my part-time job, I have one that is full-time (if I want to make it that way) so it's not a good idea spending so much time hanging out with people.

What should I do? My best idea is to not answer the phone when I see that number, and if he ends up coming through my line again and talks to me, I should tell him that I was busy and that I actually work on the computer for a second job (he asked me what I do in my free time and I said I go on the computer).

Good idea or no?

greg

Something completely unrelated and random:

Dominos Japan site. Their standards of what looks professional must be completely different, because I see stuff like this everywhere. Enjoy.

I think that waiting to meet him again and getting something of a better bead, and meanwhile eliding the phone calls, is a good idea.

This bit of advice is not much use to you right at present, but the easier thing to do would have been not to give out your number in the first place
; )

That was not me, calling, BTW ; )

If I were a girl, I think being prepared for how not to give out my cell phone number (politely) would be more like a regular chore. Maybe next time, I'll say I don't have a cell phone... and if they ask if I have a home phone, I'll say it doesn't work at the moment.  :D

You say, "sure, my phone number is 123-4567.  If they ask the area code, 000.   8)

Clearly there is something odd about the character.  The acceptable thing would be for this person to offer to give you his phone number, not to ask for yours.

I thought about the fake phone number idea.  :D

Yeah, I also think it is odd, because who does that? He seemed strange in the sense that I think he is one of those people with something a "little bit off." I've known and been friends with people like that, but it's just basic human nature to be wary of people like that until you get to actually know them.
