What's up with Google?  Okay, so I've known for months that iGoogle is going away in November but now I'm told that Google Reader will no longer be available after July?  Why are they taking away some of the most popular features?  What's next, no searching?

???

Coming across that news was not the best way to start the morning, today. Thanks for reminding, BTW; I'm going to spend the rest of evening searching for a suitable replacement.

To-day is № 6's (and Patrick McGoohan's) [85th] birthday. Be seeing you!

(Amusingly, I re-watched "Many Happy Returns" just this Sunday past . . . the episode in which Someone Special bakes him a birthday cake!)

Anyone ever feel like they either know way too many people or live in a town that is too small?
I can't go out without seeing several people I either know or recognize...  ???

And when you see so many instances on Facebook of "I didn't know one friend was friends with another friend of mine," that's even weirder.  :-X

If you go to a university and live within a realistic driving distance of it, it's likely that your area has more people, anyways.

An amusing thing today: I went to Sears to get some headphones. I check out and ask the guy if he has used those headphones before. The guy who is checking me out is the same guy I have checked out many times, who usually is wearing headphones during the whole transaction (this is rare for people in to do this in general). Not too far of from being a palindrome.

One reason why I didn't feel like telling him I recognized him is because it gets tiring making so many new connections with people (though the main reason actually being "oh, you check out in my line a lot") bleh. Likely he recognized me, too.

And then a few minutes later in the mall, I see an old friend and talk to him for a bit, while in the background seeing a girl I used to work with at the same time. Oh yeah, there was that time a month or so ago when I went into the grocery store and saw a guy I work and another guy I used to work with shopping in the same area, no connection between them. It's like there isn't any of a specific type of "privacy" in public- can't even have my typical mad and about to kill someone expression, because I'll likely see someone I know.  :-X

Of all the places...

While I was out and about the town tonight, all of a sudden I came across a name that seemed familiar but was in an unnatural setting. The board outside a building read: "Richard Strauss Insurance Brokers". I wish I had taken a photo -- I even had a camera with me! Googling the name seems to suggest that it's an Indian firm.

Brian

I read the full transcript of today's Prop 8 hearing at the Supreme Court, and blogged a full analysis of the arguments, personalities, most remarkable quotes, and most likely outcomes. If you only read one close look at what went down in the court over California's gay marriage ban, you could do worse than mine, I think. :)

That precis and discussion was admirably restrained, Brian.  Very informative.

I agree.  I could not be that restrained in discussing this.  (I don't think I can be restrained.....I get too emotional on topics like this).
