I didn't brag about it. "Scarpia" said it. And I do think this forum is a much better place without psychos like him (and George for that matter, he was a total psycho and had *nothing* of interest to say - I think I drove him away, too). And it appears that the passive-aggressive, permanently offended crowd has become quieter, too. It looks to me like open, direct discussions are becoming easier to lead without a bunch of psychos freaking out all over the place. So the overall climate seems to have improved quite a bit.

Well, Dr. M, if you can breach patient/doctor confidentiality, I would one day like to review your notes on these subjects. I often wondered if they were truly "psycho(pathic?)" or merely playing at it for our amusement.

The thing is, the forum is open to anyone with an interest in classical music. Not just the people that Gurn likes, or that M likes. I know this is a burden, but it is the way of things. People are allowed to say stupid sh!t, and shouldn't fear getting squashed for it. Even smart people say stupid things sometimes. Present company excepted, of course.

The smart people should know that one of the things that comes along with superior knowledge is that there is some additional demand that they develop some tolerance for the more ignorant ones. As for the loonies, even primitive cultures  had the good grace to leave them alone. People are what they are, sometimes one needs to recognize that one isn't going to change them. The next option is NOT to kill them instead.   ::)

Regards,

PS - Scarpia appears well able to handle himself, so if he and M wish to enter into civilized debate, Gurn can live with that. :)

I'd say that he would be a welcome voice in the current Richter/Rubinstein/Horowitz thread, and that, despite the appearance of his terrifyingly masculine bald head  ;D , he is a non-psycho.

Who exactly is this crowd? Saul and ... uh ... ?
I used to take exception to some of your more flagrant remarks, but have learned to ignore them. Let us hope that our new era of reasoned, friendly discussion will indeed be reasoned and friendly.  :)

You are probably too young to see that at this point.

Saul hardly is a passive-aggressive. Not at all. One quality which I actually appreciated in him. I will say more about "the passive-aggressive" crowd and a couple of other things relevant to this context later. Right now, I am too tired for serious contributions.

I said more or less the same thing as M in another of Saul's photo threads and it didn't drive him off.

Everyone takes photos, but few are willing to call it art.

I guess I am not important enough.  :'( :'( :'(

The difference is that I am a member of a cursed tribe, as the famous Gna, the Genius of Vilnius, recognized. As such, I and all my fellow tribesmen are doomed until the end of the times and we will be judged by "G-d" one day, the same day when Saul will take his place at "G-d's" side for all eternity and reside there in splendor (he can also show "G-d" all his pictures then, after all, they will have *a lot* of time to look at them). So we were born enemies because he is a member of the "chosen" tribe and I am just a lower form of human being. That's why my comments get to him so much, paradoxically.

Or because you're a jerk to him :P ;)

So you think all his religious and racist fanaticism and other BS is just a knee-jerk a reaction to me? Apart from when he "meets" me online, Saul is a really nice and modest person who does not think he is part chosen by "G-d", he does not think that women and basically all people except for his own perceived tribal group are humans of lower class and quality? Who does not think that entire people are "cursed" by "G-d". I feel flattered. But I think you overestimate my influence. That theory wouldn't explain either why he preached all that crap before I even called him on all that, and why he kept starting threads about the singularity and superiority of anything and anybody Jewish, complete with endless copy and paste articles from particularly enlightened sages. I think as somebody from Germany who has grown up learning everything about our own fairly recent extremist past, I am just particularly well qualified to recognize the true nature of people like him.
Apart from that, people who think every fart they produce is a masterwork of art that they need to share with the world and then get upset when the world doesn't see their genius just get on my nerves.

A completely fair description of Saul, I must say.

I never said he wasn't all that. I said that your comments got to him because you're a jerk to him. I'm not excusing his behaviour, but you seem intent on excusing yours. It doesn't matter how crazy he is; you're not. Yet you still stalk him and his posts and constantly try and veer him off to a topic that you know is ludicrous.

btw, I remember some of the "Jewish people are amazing at everything" threads. Quite humourous. ;D

I never noticed that any intervention was necessary to veer Saul to the ludicrous, or worse.

Don't worry, I don't give a shit what you think about me and I don't feel the need to "excuse" my behavior at all, certainly not to you. Who do you think you are? When I saw your picture, I laughed so hard the cigarette I had in my mouth shot across the room. Not because you look goofy - I usually don't make fun of how people look, but remember, Saul did make fun of how you look when he ran out of other arguments - no, because you are still so young but you see yourself in a position to lecture other people about "God" and stuff - man, don't you have any self-criticism? Maybe you should at least wait until you reach legal drinking age before you decide you have figured out "God" and the universe and all that's in it.

You know what? This thread isn't going in any meaningful direction. So I'm locking it.
