Ray, as someone who has come very close to doing the same thing, I'm curious what finally tipped the balance?

Bruce, I had been thinking about doing it for quite a long time now, but it was more out of laziness than anything else.   :D

The more simplified my life becomes, the more I enjoy it.

MN Dave

Facebook has become my main form of Internet motherf*ckery.

+1 I've recently dropped several entertainment pursuits because I didn't want to end up with a queue of stuff to do, want to enjoy my free time. :)

I currently have one, but it will be gone soon. For me, it really comes down to the question about how connected do I really want to be?

"Everything blossomed in my soul" is roughly how it goes in English, actually.

Facebook is a verb???

No, I have never had a reason or desire to use it. Every time I hear others talk about stuff that has been put on it, or I see another article about some negative aspect of it (e.g. hate speech, privacy...) I have yet another reason to not use it. I realise it is but a communication tool but there's a lot of tools out there.

I had a Facebook, but I have recently created a new one. It's good for catching up with people, but I have strong privacy settings on my account and barely any kind of personal information. I also have not, and will not, add any immediate family, relatives, co-workers, or people I went to high school with for many reasons which I won't bother to list here.

Filtration is certainly one's friend on Facebook  0:)

Yes, it's a convenient way to arrange things like group outings and whatnot, but I don't "use" it in the way most people do. That is to say I don't sit around all day uploading pictures of my ugly mug and reposting memes.

Yes, I do Facebook, but voted "occasionally."  (I check it daily, post rarely).  I would say that it is a waste of time except that I do enjoy several of the interest groups I belong to:  Laura Nyro, Cocteau Twins, Bernard Herrmann, and Sun Ra esp.  As a point of interest, I thought I was friending my brother but it turned out it was another guy with the same name!  (we're still friends and may actually meet-up someday; I like him better than my own brother).
I like Conor71's "I  like old Music" signature.

I am the opposite. For me it's a good way of keeping in touch with cousins,  ex co-workers, etc. People I know in the non cyber world whom I might otherwise lose contact with.

lol ;D

I had a Facebook account a few years back but deleted it after a few months.
I admit it was kind of cool at first - I "friended" a few people I hadn't seen in a long time and it was interesting finding out what they were doing with their lives.
I'm not sure I really like Social Media that much though - this is the only online group that I (make a small) contribution to.
It seems to me there are a lot of negative things about being involved in Social Media - I'm a very low-profile member here for example and I don't think I'm controversial at all but I have still recieved hate from other people on occasion, which I find baffling, but that seems to be a common experience on the internet.
I don't miss Facebook at all and don't think I'll be re-joining it in future.

Well, since I have added many GMG members, if you don't mind, Jeffrey, PM me your name, because I'd like to add you.

Tickled to learn that today was organized as a log off from Facebook protest. And yes, I've logged off from all devices.
