I've begun delving into the complete symphonies of Boccherini on cpo. So far, it's delightful music full of rhythmic drive and tuneful appeal.

Cool!  I just yesterday bought an OOP copy of Boccherini's Keyboard Quintets, featurng Andreas Staier, and am playing it right now!
Hardly any of us expects life to be completely fair; but for Eric, it's personal.

I listened to the exquisite Mendelssohn SQ# 2 in A minor yesterday.  (Emerson SQ)

I guess this was my 'pretentious dick' comment of the day.  :D

I have a soft spot for Boccherini -- check out the string quartets on Naxos, or the string quintets with Fabio Biondi, also excellent.

Nonsense, Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 2 is great. :D  I've not heard the Emerson SQ version though.  How is it?

I get more and more enjoyment out of the ESQ set, each time I play it.

I don't play Mendelssohn's music nearly as much as some of the other "big name" Romantics, and I should rectify this!  0:)
