You cannot beat that for Sunday afternoon listening, Ray. :)
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Not quite the afternoon yet even!  In another 5 minutes ;)  Already had a productive day.  Early morning jog with my wife, breakfast, just finished chopping down last Christmas' tree  ;D (use for firewood for our firepit).  Beautiful sunny late Spring days are the best!  :)

Sounds like a perfect day.  Mine is close behind: Off to the ball game as the Rockies go for their 12th straight.

Damn but that Ravel sonata is a fine piece!
Rice professor alert!

Lynn Harrell actually just completed his last year as a professor of cello here. I regret to report that due to an excess of work, I missed his farewell concert. :(

Now playing CD3 from this set of 8.  CD3 includes Nos. 2 - 4 of the Orchestral Suites.  So far, the performance has been a rewarding experience.  Musica Antiqua Koln was until yesterday the ONLY significant baroque ensemble that is not represented in my 20+ versions of Brandenburg Concertos on CD ...

When my wife and I took a long weekend trip over the Memorial Day to Houston back in 2000, we walked by Rice University when we took a walk near our hotel.
It was pretty impressive.  BTW, does James Baker III, the former Secretary of State, have something named after him at Rice?

Yes, the Baker Institute (for public and foreign policy).  :)  There is also a residential building named for James Baker - but that's James Baker I, his grandfather.

James Baker was the best Secretary of States the US had over the past 50 years and he came from a distinguished family also.  I think he went to Princeton for his undergrad, did he later attend Rice?

Yeah, summer will be officially here next weekend ...  Don't care for the heat and it will be nice to spend the summer in Nova Scotia or some place much cooler ...

Dramatic and atmospheric.

Apparently this SACD by Savall was not on sale at MDT back in April, as I thought I bought every of his SACD's available then.

Ah, the Gurn disc:

Festetics in Haydn op. 50/2 in C. Very good band, yes. The Arcana catalogue number is A 415. How HIP is that!
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

sloppy handywork.... ;D

Can't see why this generally available CD (which I bought from a Norwegian bricks and mortar store a month ago) should have been excluded from the sale.

When I last visited Bergen, Norway in the fall of 93, I noticed most CD's were selling at the equivalent of at least $20 USD, which were pricey by the then US standard.  Now with competitions from the e-tailers, how are these brick and mortar music stores doing?
