You need an avatar, Premont!  :)

Incidentally I have considered this recently, but I can not find the ideal avatar.

Terakado, isn´t he too self-effacing for Beethoven??

It's possible; the best Beethoven generally requires certain arrogance in the interpretation. But for some reason I think his violin and cello sonatas are quite suitable for a more poetic/ethereal approach.

Here is one for your consideration. (In two widths)

R. Strauss: Elektra (Abbado/Vienna State Opera) - Excellent production by Harry Kupfer, apparently controversial (although I can't really see why), with some very good singing by Eva Marton, Cheryl Studer and Brigitte Fassbaender.  Claudio Abbado conducts the score with great sweep.  My only complaint is the sound (taped in 1989), which tends to make everyone even more shrill than normal.

Mmm, thanks for the suggestion, is it a piece of organ pipes or some organ pipes of peace?

However I think a picture of myself might be more appropriate.  8)

No one wants to see pictures of actual people.  ;)

Maybe not in your case, - only you know.
But I think an avatar has got to be personal.
Maybe I shall change it some day, others do that rather often.

Anyway, I do think currently there are better options for complete sets, especially Schroeder/Immerseel...

Aw, reading the opinions here and especially the Gramophone review, which complained about its anachronistic use of instruments in a HIP recording and about other things I never understood, I didn't buy the set along with the recent order.

This one goes straight to my top 10.

Well sung, beautiful music, almost all of it unknown.

What a beautiful cover. Makes me want to buy just for the artwork.

Yeah the Mancini recommendation came from me ;D
So far the bathroom renovation is on schedule, but its not something you do for your personal pleasure.
:P

The pleasure comes afterwards. That's been our experience. :)

Great, Premont! I frequently change my avatar: Roberto Bolaño, Jorge Luis Borges, G.K. Chesterton and currently Georges Santayana. I suppose it would be a kind of hommage, if my posts had some value.  :D Surprinsingly, I have never choosen a composer or a musician, probably because my favorites are taken: Bach, Haydn (well, Gurn IS that avatar), Brahms (Q and, lately, Brahmsian), etc. Sometimes I have considered Leonhardt, but then I thought that that avatar was yours.  ;)

Premont, is that really you...or the young Max Reger?

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

... people say so many things dear Navneeth. If you are interested, I could upload some samples.  :)

It is indeed the young Premont, 20 years ago.

That's probably the reason why people don't use their own pictures.  :D

Thanks for the kind offer, Antoine, but I have no 'standard' to compare it to. :) I'll put in on my wish-list. It wasn't terribly expensive in any case -- about $11 with shipping.

Some do, f.i. Sarge, even if his picture hopefully is morphed.  ;D

Still I think that a picture of myself is more personal, than a picture of some spiritual aristocrate, whom I can not compare to.
