Maiden spin of this!

Martinů knows how to make an entrance, doesn't he? :)

In the mood for some wind music today.  Guess I will roll this set out (back cover):

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

Harry

Scriabin.
Piano Works, complete, volume VII.
Maria Lettberg, piano.

Impromptus/Poemes, opus 7/10/12/14/32/34/36/41/44/61/63/69/71/72.

For me this is absolute bliss, perfect Scriabin, in every way.

Uplifting music for a miserable English day  8)

Yes, talk about bleak...wind, cold, bit of rain in the air and the Berg/Stravinsky violin concertos on the hifi  ;D

Last bit was a feebled attempt at humour; 'tis Perlman/Ozawa and its an 'Originals' gem  ;)

Harry's remark suddenly reminds me of a famous quip by the Roman historian Tacitus - 'Divided they fight, united they fall'. And this about the British tribes...  ;)

op. 132

I've had the earlier mono set for a year or so, but my god, this one's something else. The way they caress the music in the adagio - is there anything more beautiful than that?

The Adagio? Is that the movement Mahler quoted almost note for note in the finale of the 3rd symphony? Yeah it is very beautiful indeed.

No, my friend, there isn't.

Except for maybe their performance of the first movement of Op. 131. Heard that yet?  :o
