One of my favourite composers, of which I buy as much as is recorded, and this one in particular ignites my fantasy in many ways. A unique voice, that has actually something new to say. The performances could not be bettered, as also the recording, both are superb.

King Lear, Symphonic Poem, opus 20.

Symphony No. 1, opus 23 in G major.

Good stuff!

Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel in B-flat major Op. 24

Good afternoon all. This morning's listening:

Kreutzer again and Concerto No. 5 again:

Trying to imprint these two on my brain, I'm going to get two different versions in February I think.
My favourite words in classical: "Molto vivace"

Yes, I'm shallow.

Willoughby earl of Itacarius

From this fine set, CD IV.

Humoresques opus 101
Poetic Moods, opus 85.

Wonderful sound, and to die for performances, to use a phrase from Andrei. ;D

Listening to some Romantic Piano Cancertos. These are the first in the Hyperion series, but I only recently acquired. Very good. I could imagine a bit more incandesence, but these are very finely done.

If it's a surprise that you're looking for, then visit Hob. I. ;)

Thread Duty: Pavel Haas Qt. plays Prokofiev No. 1. I'm reacting to this better than my first listen many months ago. Maybe I'm in the right mood today.

It took me 40 years to fully appreciate it. Give it time...it's worth it :)

If I can last a few more years, anything's possible, Karl.

I'm beginning to like it. The last movement is quite moving on the surface even with menacing cello showing up every now and then.
