According to the Amazon page, the Holst is performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Ambrosian Singers. So I may well just be in good old-fashioned error.

Son of a gun! I had no idea about this recording. Thanks, Karl.

Edit: I'll have to ask my Dad before buying a recording though because he owns almost ever Planets recorded.
I don't think the Archiv listing is correct. The mp3 version on Amazon lists the Philharmonia for Holst and the CBSO for Britten. It would be unusual to use both orchestras for different sections as listed in the Archiv listing.

I hadn't noticed that Arkiv listed different bands for different tracks!

That must be good, Dave. Awfully fond of Rattle and the band from Birmingham Philharmonia in this piece, I am.

Ending the day with beautiful sonatas from Robert Fuchs, well played by Daniel Blumenthal.

As always, enjoyed it very much. It really is a great piece, Karl. I shall be starting my viola piece (this time for viola and chamber orchestra) soon, and with much inspiration!
and hopefully I should be able to listen to your others works you reposted tommorow afternoon. Looking forward to it, Karl! :)

This really is an outstanding work IMHO. I don't think I have any words for it other than to urge all Schnittke fans who haven't heard it yet to listen to it ASAP.
