By the bye, that's where Larry and I met, as well.

owlice

Ah! I've met Larry in NYC a couple of times. I don't know that he travels south much!

Hiya, spitvalve! Long time, no see! Where are you these days?

Well hiya there Owlice! haven't see you around in a while  :)

I'm in Moscow (Russia, not Idaho). So scant chance of a lunch meeting, I'm afraid  :D

I think meeting in Moscow, Russia is more likely than meeting in Moscow, Idaho, somehow! Are you having fun, spitvalve?

I've just been rereading some posts from long long ago on Luto's Third. :)

Those of you dissing Larry Rinkel... grrrrrrrrrr!

Well, I do have my good reasons, which I prefer not to spell out here. But he did mention having met quite a few posters - including Owlice and Karl - and he spoke very highly of every one of them.

He said he's seen parts of Central/South America.

You may have your reasons, but I must challenge the notion that they are good ones!

QuoteHe said he's seen parts of Central/South America.

Ah, yes, but I was referring to more immediate south of NYC, such as Philadelphia and DC. :) IIRC, and I admit it's been quite some years since I've heard the tales, there are a number of reasons he no longer ventures to these cities. Something to do with past behavior and outstanding warrants; diamonds and a score (or two scores?), The Library of Congress and one of the Philadelphia museums... I don't remember which, however, nor do I remember the details. I'm convinced he was framed in each case, because surely Larry would never do anything the least bit sneaky or underhanded! He is far too decent a man for such.

I do wonder why he has not sought to clear up what must be grave misunderstandings in Philadelphia and DC, but I'm sure he has his (honorable) reasons.

About the time of the great Gardner Museum heist here in Boston, the name "Larry" loomed large in printed speculation . . . .

Say no more! you are coming close to the primary reason why I can't stand the man. In addition to being thoroughly disagreeable, he tipped his hand to me far too confidently when he showed me a photo of his apartment with the painting attributed to Vermeer that used to hang in the Philadelphia Museum. "It's not a recognized Vermeer!" quoth he. "All I have taken is a fake!" But I know he still attends special exhibits there, wearing a fake beard.

The faker.

Why don't you give it a rest.  ::)  Assuming Sforzando considers the reasons valid, your opinion matters not at all.  Besides, nobody is universally liked.

Marti De Bergi has been wondering where his fake beard went.

We cannot really be sure of that, until we know someone whom everyone knows . . . .

Funny thing is, I happen to know that Larry is extremely fond of Sforzando. But then, who would blame him.

Of course my opinion matters; just ask me whether it does!

Is he banned in Boston, too, Karl?

Sforzando, ah, you are simply jealous of the man's impeccable taste!

Maciek, how it must pain Larry to know that Sforzando does not regard him with the same esteem!

Well, neither of us is going to go through the research to obtain a scientific conclusion.  But not even everybody likes the Bulldog, and I'm thoroughly lovable.

You may be lovable, but it's an open question if you're likable.

I'm so confused...I thought for sure you were Larry...I even saw some posts where they quoted text by you was credited to Larry, and yet your name was with the source material. What's going on here...

Yep, never a dull moment! You still in the DC area?

Wow.  :o Is that from the marathon dissection of that piece we did in 2000 or so?
