Those aren't really rivers but canals, marvin  -  the water isn't going anywhere.

Delft is a very pretty town. Having spent close to fifteen years in Leiden I sometimes picture myself ending up on a little canal in Delft living a Vermeer life.

We missed out on Leiden :( Haarlem, Utrecht, Delft, Den Haag(The Hague, for those who don't know ;D) were all visited.

Leiden next time, for sure :)

Holland is also a country with more roads per square mile than any other place on the planet. But whatever is left of greenery is beautifully preserved - including beautiful city parks and tree-lined streets. Considering its limitations, the country made the most out of its environment. I must have pictures somewhere of Marken and Vollendam. Many moons ago I recall having been transported to another world when visiting Amsterdam's Begijnhof (picture under - not mine, but I didn't have a camera then).

Maastricht is also a beautiful and imposing city, the center of a thriving ancient commercial axis with neighbouring Germany (Aachen) and Belgium (Liège).

It was a great pleasure to meet Colin (Dunndonell) in London yesterday, where we discussed History teaching, Arthur Butterworth, Rued Langgaard, Allan Pettersson, GMG Forum and much else besides. Photos to follow.

I very much enjoyed meeting Jeffrey(vandermolen) and his wife Katy in London on Saturday. We had a meal in an excellent pub near Trafalgar Square, crossed the Thames and had a coffee at the Festival Hall and walked along the Embankment deep in conversation about our favourite composers and our friends here(with especial reference to those in the country of the windmills and tulips ;D)

Looking forward very much to Jeffrey's photos appearing here shortly I hope :)

Solitary Wanderer

This meeting sounds just wonderful - looking forward to the pic's.

Wish such a thing would happen for me here - I only have one elderly friend who enjoys classical music as much as me  :)

It is, indeed. In California, you'll never see anything alike, and I am usually so thrilled about those European panoramas. Just can fell the history running through the streets.

I have it from a reliable source  ;) that the pub was called 'Sherlock Holmes'! I remember seeing it when I was in London - is it near the Hungerford Foot Bridge, round the corner?

Indeed the pub was the 'Sherlock Holmes'-a nice touch really-and it is near Hungerford Bridge. A photograph of the two GMG members was taken by a kind passer-by on the bridge. I hope that it has come out well :)

Dr. Dread

Upon my meeting a GMG member face to face, I discovered we looked very much alike.
