Greetings to all! I am Don from Kansas City, MO and new to the board. I know some of you from other classical music boards and look forward to seeing you all here too.

I have been a classical music buff since a teen, now in my 50's. Enjoy a wide range of music but especially dwell in the early 20th century and late 19th. Occasional forays into other eras are always ear opening and productive.

I am an amateur singer, avid listener and concert goer. Outside of listening to music and occasionally performing, I work in property management. Otherwise devoted to the pug dog breed and collect antiques and work on my old (but far from classic) car.

Thanks and look forward to meeting you all!

Well, let me be the first then to welcome you here!

Greetings from across the Atlantic in bitterly cold, freezing Scotland with snow forecast :) How's the weather in Missouri?-I almost wrote Kansas! I can never quite get my head round the idea of Kansas City not being in Kansas :)

Only slightly older than your good self and recently retired from school teaching..so plenty of time to write far too long essays on unfairly neglected 20th century composers in the Composer Discussion forum. Hope you can join in some of them ;D

I am almost in Kansas, but do live in MO. Kansas City straddles the state line; and in some areas there is little to indicate which state you are in.

It is the night of our first freeze here, just a few days ago, I had hibiscus in bloom out doors, but they are inside now!

Thanks Dundonnel for the greetings and I am sure we will meet in the unfairly neglected discussions.

Hi Don, and welcome from (rainy) New York City.  I was in Kansas City about 15 years ago--enjoyed the Nelson-Atkins Museum enormously, especially their Chinese art collection.  Also had some of the best barbecue I've ever had in my life, at Arthur Bryant's and Gates.

Anyway, enjoy your time here.

Hello Don - a warm welcome to the GMG Forum -  :D

I've been to Kansas City just once (medical meeting) - wanted to go mainly because of the great jazz history in your city (Count Basie, Lester Young, and so many others!) - sounded like a 'wild' place back then!  ;D

Chilly here in North Carolina Piedmont, too - hope that you enjoy the forum & looking forward to you posting -  :)
