Hi folks,

Does anyone know of any particularly interesting guitar & piano duets?  All I've managed to come across so far is what is contained on this recording http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QQYWGG/ref=dm_sp_alb?ie=UTF8&qid=1226687798&sr=8-10.

I realize that it is probably a relatively new genre with a rather slim repertoire, but thought I'd see what the experts at good ol' GMG have to say.

Sorry if there has already been a thread posted about this, but I searched and couldn't find one.

Thanks!

Ferdinando Carulli wrote many pieces for Guitar and Piano (or Fortepiano if you will). Heard a few, wasn't impressed, but i guess it's worth a try.

Would that be a guitar sonata?

Well, TheJoe, I love the guitar, esp. in smaller chamber type works - but the 'combo' of guitar & piano works is a slim selection - but as suggested above by Josquin, Ferdinando Carulli (1770-1841) is worth considering - a while ago, I purchased the 8-CD (hard to believe!) set on Brilliant Classics of the Carulli compositions for this combination of instruments - performed by Massimo Palumb on a fortepiano & Leopoldo Saracino on guitar, the blend of the older piano w/ the guitar is a better mix in my mind (and hearing); checkout the review of this set on MusicWeb, which prompted me to consider this purchase, combined w/ finding this for just $24 at BRO - see that you're from Oregon, so might want to explore this bargain web merchant located on the East Coast -  :D
