Poll
Question:
YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE
Option 1: The Firebird
votes: 4
Option 2: Petrushka
votes: 13
Option 3: The Rite of Spring
votes: 26
Option 4: Ewww, Stravinsky!
votes: 4
You were warned.
I choose Petrushka.
As much as I love all three works, I chose Petrouchka as well. I don't think this is a cruel poll at all. :)
I'm listening to this, although I wouldn't vote differently in other circumstances.

This was the least cruel poll ever. The only cruelty involved is exposing to public scrutiny those who do not pick the Rite! >:D
Symphonie des Bananes
Les Noces.
Banana. Also known as, Dumbarton Oaks.

Bravo! That's my favourite Stravinsky.
I continue to be impressed by your taste and refinement my simian friend!

In a sense, this poll was easy. I've got to choose Le sacre.
And it's not like the others are bad 8)

+1
Symphony of Psalms. Just because. 8)
(If you pressed me to name one of the three mentioned, I'd have to go with Le Sacre.)
Brian (Pollmaster), are the results meeting expectations?
I can't fathom why people insist naming works not listed as options. That's like voting Mickey Mouse for president. How cool would that be, if it happened, though..
I don't think Mickey in the White House would be cool at all, at all . . . .

They were pretty shocking when Petrushka got off to a 6-2 lead. Now, maybe not so much - except that we have 2 Stravinsky haters and 1 poor, presumably awesome person who's feeling super lonely about choosing Firebird.
Love all three, but if pressed, Le sacre.

Mickey would be a big improvement over our last two presidents.

I need no pressing, ever since it was used as soundtrack for a virgin sacrifice in my youth.

It wasn't. Not the last couple times anyway.

Yes, I think so. Brian--the coincidence enabler.

Some of us just feel that others besides The Big Three should get some attention. :)
Mickey Mouse? I think Bugs Bunny would be more effective. "Mnyeh--What's up, Mitch?" (Nothing against the current administration, mind you, although some disappointment in the midterm results. >:( )

Oh yes, we do feel that.
The Rite by far. The Firebird is not even in my top ten.
Wonderful as L'oiseau de feu is, it is not in my Stravinsky Top 10, either.

Some composers have too many masterpieces for a top 10. Firebird wouldn't be close to my top 10.

There are an awful lot of bad Firebirds.
I am not too fond of the Firebird, so that was not even in the running. I voted for Petrushka which I slightly prefer to Le Sacre. I love those "collages".

Well yes. I think Debussy named his "La Mer".
>:D
Le Sacre, but I don't think he should give up on composing yet. From those three, you can really tell he's on to something, here. Keep going, Igor! 0:)
The Firebird.

My words. Heard them all three live, too. And live the
Sacre made the strongest impression.
