I agree. There's not one 'perfect' performance of Nevsky. Besides Gergiev, I like Previn's first go-around on EMI and also Jarvi's on Chandos.
I think I like the Jarvi best of those. A real sleeper (with a technical fault) is Slatkin. The problem with this one is that the chorus sounds like it was recorded in the next room, which is really a shame, because the orchestra is as exciting as any version out there (and the chorus sing well, just without as much oompf as one would like). Still, I am really glad to have it and stunned that Slatkin did this so well. I write this in hopes that someone will tell me there was a re-mastering that fixed this problem! :)

I've never been too keen with Slatkin conducting any kind of Russian music. I recall listening to his performance of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8 and being absolutely disappointed by the stranglehold he seemed to have over the music. This is music that needs to breathe and take on a life of it's own Maestro Slatkin! :)

Just bought:

I didn't have recordings of The Lady and the Hooligan and this particular recording has been issued in a number of different incarnations over the years, but this one on the Harmonia Mundi label was the cheapest I found.

Also bought:

I have symphony no 9 and don't care much about it. Not because I don't like Blomstedt (a fantastic brucknerian), I just find it dullish, rythmically unaccented and sonically too bass-anchored. A bit like his Dresden set of the Beethoven symphonies. Admirable but unexciting. But, hey ! For 12$ (CAD !!) I coukldn't pass it up.

.

Didn't need this either. But I love Harnoncourt's way with Haydn. 'T will be my 5th Pauken. One of these days I'll hold a mini festival of Paukenmessen.

9,68 euros + shipping?
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

That's about right.
So about 15 euros in all? I still have not tested if my credit card works in Amazon.fr when geolimiting is off.

Something like that, except the shipping costs are not that much per item if you buy several discs at once, of course.

De Maria, btw, is giving a recital in Miami Jan. 15.  I won't know if I can until two weeks before, because of work schedules.

Found it waiting on my doorstep when I got home from work, two days earlier than those Italians promised.
Although it was actually shipped from Amazon UK...

Just bought most of Volmer's Tubin series:

The fourth volume (containing Symphonies Nos. 1 & 8) must be OOP as it's difficult to acquire and when you actually do find it's extremely expensive. I had hopes that Alba would box up their Tubin series, but this looks like it's just not in the cards, so this is really the only route one can take if someone wants to get this particular series. I already own the Kratt recording, which is outstanding.

Edit:

Updated from above:

I bought a copy of this volume from Amazon Canada. I hope they pull through as they had a "Usually ships within 2 to 5 weeks" on the product page. Crossing my fingers about this order.

Ich bin disappointed: I purchased this from Music Magpie on Amazon:

and got this instead:

A complete opera with libretto on a 2 cd set turned into a single cd of a portion of the work with no insert. I gave Music Magpie a piece of my mind. In very short order, it's the 2nd time something happens with an order from that source.
I hope they can send me the right item at no additional cost.
