Dislike Prokofiev, love Shosty. Easy choice.

Of course, the REAL answer is Shostakofiev.

Not your idea hm?

Franz Waxman's Auld Long Syne Variations for piano quartet:

1) Eine Kleine Nichtmusik
2) L v B
3) Chaconne a Son Gout
4) Homage to Shostakofiev
Piantale a la leche hermano, que eso arruina el corazón! (from a tango's letter)

Danny

Shosty is pulling away...............I still can't decide.

Neither are in my top drawer, but I have warmer feelings toward Shosty.

karlhenning

Maybe you need a larger top drawer? j/k

It's plenty big. Shosty's in the next drawer down, and I seemed to have lost Prokofiev. Maybe he's behind my socks.

Wanderer

Prokofiev versus Shostakovich? That's unfair to them both. And Elgar.  $:)

Karl, would you start composing already?  ;D

We need to love and cherish the memory of both--amen!  Not a rumble, definitely not a rumble!!!

Oh, the indignity!

Yes, but there might be worser places yet to put them. ;)

Josquin des Prez

greg

oh, no.... Prokofiev is really losing  :'(

but he won against Stravinsky. This is really the opposite of the order of composers' importance/status. Normally it'd be like

1) Stravinsky
2) Prokofiev
3) Shostakovich

but it's seems in order of being liked it's like this:

1) Shostakovich
2) Prokofiev
3) Stravinsky

i like all 3 of course.....

I demand a recount. It had to have been the dimpled chads.

Prokofiev could out duel Shostakovich with one arm tied behind the piano bench...

But as to the poll, both, of course!

Prokofiev would have beaten Shostakovich easily at the chess board.

That's two for Prokofiev!
