Bought primarily for the String Quintet version of the Wesendonk-Lieder.

Not a classical CD purchase (since I'm waiting until next month), but I did buy this shirt that I designed from the site that Neal mentioned many moons ago:

So far I have composer shirts of Shostakovich, Sibelius, Nielsen, Bartok, Takemitsu, Schoenberg, Ives, and now Schnittke. 8)

Edit: I'll definitely be adding Vaughan Williams, Mahler, Ravel, and Copland to the shirt collection at some point.

I decided to make a Shostakovich shirt ---- the one I currently own was designed by someone else. Anyway, here's my design (the drawing is from a 1930 Soviet newspaper):

No knowing why Amazon lists as the album artist (in all caps, thank you very much) DIMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH

Merci, André

Or is it Andrei?  As far as I remember, I am the only one that's been singing the praises of these boxes.  ;D

Nice!  :)

Indeed. I know some people think Spinosi's style is over-aggressive, but I very much like this recording. A wonderful cast.

This weekend I arrived back from a short holiday, only to discover that the last physical CD store in town that I frequent (during my lunch breaks) started a closing sale and will be gone soon....  ::)

It sold, much to my pleasure over the last 15 odd years or so, many interesting overstocks and cut outs. I made many musical discoveries whilst browsing to their shelves.... The physical shopping experience with that bit of odd chance and impulse buying was perfectly complementary to my use of internet resources, which are also dwindling in their numbers BTW....

I feel the FAKE virtual world of downloads and streaming closing in on me.....  ??? ???

Anyway, all that was left to do was start scraping the bottom of the barrel:

Correct, because of your praise Andrei I ordered them . Andre found the deal on JPC, :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

All children know that the bottom of a pot has the best goodies...
Dagmar Saskova is a sublime voice.  And in this repertoire she is at her best.

Apparently, it's time to say goodbye to all that... You will love that Vivaldi. The overtures by Telemann are superbly played on modern instruments.  :)
