Saul, the link does not work, at least not for me.  :'(

I hoped you would come online to give the right spelling for the name of the holiday. I have it as 'Hannukkah' on the Nature Conservancy calendar, and 'Hanukkah' at Webster's!  :)

It works! Thank you, Saul!  :-*

Here is how it is really spelled: חנוכה

Ah sure! You gentlemen are doing a great job making the spelling varied and interesting! How about the English version:

Festival of Light,

easy and simple!  ;)

The dictionary is making a huge mistake because its wrong on the pronunciation.
It is pronounced Chanukah...

I don't know what is Hanukkah.... its not a Hebrew word.

Happy Chanukah!!!

Hmm...well, like I wrote on another thread, in this Politically Correct world using a term such as "Christmas" is now a PC no-no. Totally inappropriate. Yes, the PC cops have got after the term and decided it would surely be offensive to somebody somewhere.

So, accordingly, the term "Christmas" has been given the out-and-out boot in favor of the generic term, "Holiday".

However, I can't help wondering...shouldn't a holiday such as Chanukah [sic] also be subject to such PC strictures?

I mean, if one holiday's name must be marginalized certainly they all must - else there's no true PC kulture...

So, to level the playing field, can there be any other option than to jettison the term, "Chanukah"?

Can't see any other PC solution.

But don't worry...the holiday formerly known as "Chanukah" will still be around. It'll just have a shiny new mainstream name, one more in keeping with the brilliantly scrubbed PC landscape.

So, after due deliberation by the PC heads of state, let's all give a warm, cozy PC welcome to...

...The Other Holiday. 8) 8)

From my politically incorrect heart: Happy Chanukkah (or whatever spelling you prefer) to all who celebrate it!

(I can hardly wait December 25... :) )

The PC cops don't like Happy Chanukah or Merry Christmas!   That is just too bad.  Differences make this country great and interesting.  I for one will not change and the cops be hanged.

Happy Chanukah

PS- Yeah, I know. There should be 8 candles and a "shamus". But this is the only appropriate picture I could find.
"Good", is NOT good enough, when "better" is expected
