Another operetta  Suppe.... :)
Suppe's overtures are fabulous! I've never heard the full operettas but he is a wonderful, terrifically fun composer ...

Agree. Poet and Peasant is my favorite overture, and Light Cavalry, is there anything more fun than those?

That's 12 tones favorite. Blind people who live in the desert with no electricity know that.  ;D

This is the original set from 2004 I think it was.  Then CPO picked it up.  DG is now taking down multiple doors with firemen axes to get the rights from CPO.  But CPO won't give them up!  They talked last week and DG was put down BIG TIME!

Q, when you have a moment, could you post a couple of comments on this one? I've been looking for a recording since I heard it performed about a year ago, and the Minkowski's been sitting in my basket all this time.

Thanks :).

It says "Apex" on the box so I take it that Teldec/Warner has the rights then?
Being such a big Mehuhin fan you don't own this box???

Is the CPO remastering different?

My big gamble, having heard of only one 1873 before - Georg Tintner with RSNO. Has anyone heard this? How is it? Is my money well spent or wasted?

That orchestra/conductor combination has been getting brilliant reviews, especially for German/Austrian repertoire, so I can't imagine it being anything less than fine.
