That's a passel o' Hummel!
I think the technical term is hummeldinger.

Every Haendel performance is like a spiritual experience. She is one of the greatest musicians - of any instrument - I have heard.

It is. Testament recorded Haendel playing the Bach Sonatas and Partitas in 1995 at Abbey Road on analogue tape and released the set on LP. I'm not in the habit of selling desirable LPs but look in amazement at the rising prices of this set. Bach plus female violinist is a heady mix for collectors from the Far East.

You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

I have that set on cd. Haendel plays the Chaconne in just about every concert she does. Watching her play it is mesmerizing.

That entire series looks very interesting.  The Jerusalem Quartet doing the string quartet (w/ the Ravel) I've wishlisted to remind me of the others.

There are two installments in the series--the Melodies and the one involving Jazz, the ones that interest me least--that I don't have/have not ordered. Recommend them all.

Oops, I couldn't resist a certain crazy deal at JPC.de... with shipping to the US, a total of $50 for the following:

The first Buxtehude and Langgaard CDs I will have in my collection, and possibly the first physical Holmboe CD (have a couple digitally, plus his book). I actually don't know anything at all about Buxtehude, but the price and the very high quality of Dacapo's box set productions convinced me to jump straight in the deep end!

You are most fortunate. I have not seen her live. I did manage at great expense (not mine, a birthday present from the wife) to get an out of print copy of her autobiography "Woman With Violin".

It is my fifth set with Buxtehude organ works and  I think it is one of the most attractive,I surely look forward to it.
