La Quinta de Mahler here in Madrid has its complete stock on sale, as they're moving to new premises (the landlord of their delightful store in the old city wouldn't renew the lease, and an ice cream parlour will take the unit over  ::)). To alleviate their relocation  ;), I helped them to get rid of these:

I have both these Florent Schmitt works in different recordings, but was underwhelmed by Leif Segertam's traversal of the Second Symphony on Marco Polo. Let's see if Sakari Oramo does the trick.

Mainly for Panambí with its choral ending (which I presume will make it sound even more like a rip-off of Daphnis et Chloé  ;)).

went with these at JPC last night - thanks for the alert:

not sure I need a second third set of Poulenc mélodies (next to the Hyperion and the EMI), but at that price, and with Julie Fuchs among the cast ...

btw indeed the "Hyver" disc by Gauvin comes highly recommended ... I skipped the ATMA sale this time 'round, but I've bought a few in other ATMA sales over the years and they have some mighty good vocal albums there!

I was too slow. Could not decide which ones of the ATMA deal to get, so the one I wanted the most (Jadin quartets) was gone and some other candidates went up to EUR 24,99 (what's that, why 5 EUR more than usual full price?) again before I was ready. I ended up ordering Rosenmüller sonatas, "rise, my soul", Pierné/Vierne quintets, Piernè trio and Fialkowska's Chopin disc with the Polonaise Fantaisie and 4th ballade. (Not that I need any more Chopin, but the 4 other discs contain mostly music not yet in my collection.)

I know from experience that labels like ATMA are popular, especially when they go for such low prices. So I ordered with speed when I saw them in the early morning. If you don't, like you and Que and others, that the really interesting items are gone. I am lucky that I got all I wanted.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

This set has been on my radar for a good long while, but I just never saw fit to pull the trigger until now.  For some reason, Amazon Global UK ended up having the set new for $18 and change, shipping included, for the five disc set.  The main attraction here, the only attraction, really, is Nino Gvetadze's recording of the Preludes.  I get that for premium price, plus four freebies.  Not bad.

Off topic, but I really love those painting-covers of old Zig Zag releases!  :)

I'm glad to have found this edition with a informative booklet that is missing in the reissue. :)

Please let us know your opinion. This set keeps going in and out of my cart - there are always « other priorities » that get in the way of a purchase  ::)

Nos. 1 and 2 certainly left impressions on me on first hearing, which is always a good sign that I'm going to grow to really enjoy a piece of music. I've just started No. 3 now and it's going good.

It's decent. It can't touch the Baudo set.

And if you are interested in this repertoire, don't forget Karajan's single disc. The ONE Karajan disc I find mandatory!

Boulez: Dérive 2 studienpartitur (Universal Edition). Surprisingly cheap at only 34,95€

A few other things I'll probably get from that shop later would be something by Wagner and Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre. My holiday money is being sucked dry!
