Zwei obligaten Augenglasern! ;D ;D ;D
Boy that made me grin big time.
Goodmorning Que.
Hope you have good Christmas cheer.....

Morning, Harry, it's a good Christmas.

Yes, it does sound rather intriguing!  ;D
I was somewhat dissapointed to find out it's just a duet for viola and cello, the "eyeglasses" bit only a joke that probably referred to the bad eyesight of the friend (Baron Nikolaus Zmeskall von Domanovecz) he wrote the duet for! :)

FWIW, from http://wc10.allmusic.com/

QuoteOne of Sweden's leading composers during the middle twentieth century, Kurt Atterberg championed contemporary Swedish music as a whole in his work as a conductor, critic, and officer in composer-advocacy organizations. His music was easily accessible — a polytonal treatment of late Romanticism — and he had little love for more advanced techniques or the composers, even young Swedes, who used them. In his lifetime, he developed only a small reputation outside Scandinavia, mainly in Germany; even in Sweden he was regarded as something of a relic by the 1950s, his final period of extensive composition. Atterberg's work has enjoyed a revival on compact disc, if not in the concert hall, and his posthumous reputation now seems secure at least among omnivorous record collectors.

[Nielsen symphonies - Kuchar]

Am interested in hearing about this. It's been in my cart for months.

Will do when I get it, but I won't have had any other recordings to compare it to.

I used today my JPC.DE voucher of 5 euros before it expires:

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Still a very interesting and refreshingly provocative set.
You chose wisely.

Sibelius: Symphonies and Tone Poems Jarvi/Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra

I only have the tone poem box, but that is so uninteresting that I definitely do not want to waste my time hearing the symphonies. N.Järvi here fully lives up to his reputation as someone who stands for quantity over quality. It is pretty obvious that he doesn't have much of a concept for the music, hasn't worked on detail and just knows the scores well enough (or simply doesn't care) to wave the orchestra through these playthroughs. And all that in nasty sweetened, glassy DG sound.
You chose poorly.*

*Unless you were referring to Järvi's earlier recordings on BIS, these have at least some good elements and display solid craftsmanship.
