That Stokowski box is quite a treasure trove.
He was one of the conductors whose recordings I grew up with.   :)

Unfortunately, when the package arrived it was only 4 CDs out of 14 in some plastic library box.  I got a refund.

The new erato

And these arrived some days later:

Bummer Dave!  Had you purchased it directly from Amazon or second-hand from another seller?

B. Tchaikovsky's 'Sebastopol Symphony', is one of my favourite recent discoveries - a terrific score. I'm sure that you (and André) will enjoy it very much.
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

The new erato

Yes I did, and made a note of it in the listening thread!

Ah-ha! I've just spotted it. Glad you enjoyed it.

The symphony is conducted by Kosler, the tone poems by Chalabala. Both are fabulous IMO, very idiosyncratic compared to 'western' versions of the works.

From a marketplace seller.  They did refund me promptly, so I won't name them.

Sounds then like they are a reputable seller.  :)  Hope that you find another copy soon at a reasonable price.

The Sussex devil made me do it !  >:D Joke apart, this had escaped my scrutiny. I'm glad to add it to my flemish music collection.

Following Tsaralondon's very positive review I realized I didn't have this opera... :o

Purchased for the Dubois piece, the symphonic poem Adonis. The rest is bonus.

Saw these at an oddball site (oldies.com) from which I've never ordered. At $5.98 and $2.98 respectively (2 discs apiece), why not? Granted, X is a gamble that may not work out, but for $2.98...

Amazon's clearance stuff is nickel and diming me to death.  For only $5, it will be fun to hear more of what a teenage Danny Boy could do.

Still on my wishlist, but the Spotify trials were very successful indeed!

Sounded like top drawer Huelgas.
