I wish everyone here a Happy Christmas and good health and happiness in 2023.
Particularly thinking of anyone who has been through difficult times this year.
Here are some photos that I took at my school in the snow last week (snow is all gone now):

Season's greetings to you and your family, Jeffrey.
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Likewise, Jeffrey! Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year 2023 to you and your loved ones --- and all other GMGers.

I want to add also my best Wishes for the Season, and might the change of year bring peace and health to us all.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

I'll join in wishing Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year to all the GMG members too!

I would like it very much if it snowed, but not a snowflake in sight here....

Happy Holidays all.  :)

As for snow, I experienced enough in Kansas to last the remainder of my time on this little planet, so y'all are welcome to my share.  ;D

Ouch!  How much snow did you get?  Normally, it's things like ice storms that will do the most damage.  That, and/or not having any snow cover to protect plants and then the temps are really cold.

Thanks PD
The school was founded in 1872 (year of VW's birth  :) ). However, the building that I included in my photos was originally the Medieval Palace of the Archbishop of Canterbury and one of the guests was Queen Elizabeth 1st. I'm glad that she wasn't one of the school inspectors who visit my lessons. The building is now the school chapel. A work by Sir James MacMillan, written especially for the school, was premiered there recently. Sir James was due to attend but pulled out at the last minute due to a train strike. Here's some info.
'The Old Palace was originally a holiday residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury during the 14th and 15th centuries. During the Reformation, it was handed over to King Henry VIII who gave it to several leading noblemen of his day. Thomas Gresham lived there and Queen Elizabeth I was among his guests at the Old Palace. It was bought by the Baker family, a prominent family in the iron foundry industry. As the iron industry began to decline, so did the family's fortunes. The Old Palace became derelict and abandoned by the mid 18th century. It has since been designated a Grade I listed building.[4]'

You mean that it wasn't built in the 1960's?!

Quote from: ultralinear on December 21, 2022, 04:25:18 AMAbout six inches landed in the course of a couple of hours, covering everything, and stayed for most of a week.  Only then did the damage become apparent.  That particular rhododendron is (was) always very brittle, the branches were never really self-supporting - even the weight of the flowers could cause them to snap, and I had straps around it to try to minimise that ... not anticipating the whole thing would break off at the base.  Fortunately I do have another (different) one in a pot looking for a place to live.  ;D
Eh, poor thing!  Wonder if it was getting enough light there?  I haven't had a rhododendron in my yard in many years (parents had some at one point in their lives), but don't remember them being particularly fragile.  I do remember having to cut back the spent blossoms though (sticky and a pain in the neck).  In any event, good luck with Rhododendron II!
