Inspired by Lisztianwagner's recent posts on Dallapiccola, ordered these two CDs before they go definitely OOP:

It will be good to have an alternative reading of the Variazioni per orchestra (to complement Noseda on Chandos). And the composer's valedictory orchestral piece, Three Questions with Two Answers is another firm favourite of mine.

Music by one of my favourite composers, played by one of my very favourite pianists (Bruno Canino). I don't understand how this has been absent from my collection until now.

And some unknown (to me, at least) works by Ghedini to complete the order:

Florestan

Content of the Pacini disc:

"Great music is that which penetrates the ear with facility and leaves the memory with difficulty. Magical music never leaves the memory." — Thomas Beecham

Todd

The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Papy Oli

A few used copies on the way :

Dennis Brain - Icon box

Strauss - Vier letzte Lieder (Studer)

Two Messiaen organ works CD by Jennifer Bate

Olivier

Harry

A few from JPC.

I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

The big van Beinum box.

Everything I've heard of his has been magnificent. Can't resist this.

(importcds.com has the best price I've found, $99, but they report it one backorder.)

I saw that, and resisted the temptation with great effort! :)

I already have it. It's nice, mostly pre-HIP or very early HIP.
The companion French Baroque box may be a bit more interesting because the music included is recorded much less often.

I'm sorry I caused you all that trouble, but why was it necessary to resist the temtation?

I wasn't attributing the temptation to you. I saw that set, probably on the new release thread, and was tempted, although I have way too much Bach to justify getting it.

Oh, okay.  :D

I don't feel having "way too much Bach." That said, considering that I bought the 71 CD Rilling box of the cantatas last summer and now this 15 CD boxset, I should feel saturated for a while when it comes to Bach.  8)

One can never have too much JS Bach.  8)

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.
