Speakers or headphones, audio gear or PCs?

Hi.
I am new here. You can see my presentation in Introductions.
Being 82 I have a looong experience listening music. I began long before stereo and LPs, and although (classical) music is my main interest, I love good sound.
I tried everything, and at present I prefer to listen through headphones, from a PC with a good DAC and a good headphone amplifier.
Is anyone interested in these matters?

Hi. You will probably be interested in two long running threads about headphones, and audio gear in general.

My listening is all headphones. Lately I've been using ShureSRH840A with Schiit DAC and amp, or Apple AirPods Max though bluetooth. I've also recently used Beyerdynamic T1 headphones, but they are open back and not very compatible with my current living arrangements.

I do that at work, headphones connected to a dac and headphone amp stack.  At home I strongly prefer speakers.  They just sound more natural to me and closer to the concert experience.

I also prefer speakers, although I don't have any place to put them. But my experience was that it was not easy to go back and forth between speakers and headphones. Headphones conditioned me to expect the sound of music to be very immediate, and speakers sounded diffused by comparison, until my ears/brain adjusted. My perception was that speakers were more satisfying overall because sound is perceived by the entire head, and even the body, not just the ear canals. Large over ear headphones in which the driver is not right up against you ear canal help capture some of the naturalness.

Many tanks for the references. I will look at them.
My listening is almost all headphones too. I will provide details in the next post.
