Quote from: Irons on November 08, 2023, 12:23:06 AMNot aware of this until Mrs Irons informed me Guildford and Godalming had water supply cut off.
The first article that I read left me wondering as to which specific towns had been effected.  Apparently, it's now day 5 and according to the BBC, "Residents in Bramley and Farncombe are still without water, with one cafe forced to close."  :(

Quote from: Harry on November 08, 2023, 01:15:47 AMThe weather in the Netherlands, Hmmmm lets see...RAIN, RAIN AND RAIN, torrents! For weeks on end.
Oh, no!

Lucky here.  Yesterday was mostly sunny and quite warm (unusually so).  It was in the 60's!

Quote from: pjme on November 08, 2023, 02:02:10 AMYet today the weather is quite friendly on the Belgo-Dutch border. 10° C, wind and some rain later this week.
Nice!  :)

We've been on a temperature roller coaster here. On Friday it got up to 16º C, then ten degrees colder yesterday, with a threat of widespread snow showers that missed us completely. But then this morning we awoke to a light covering of snow and -4º, with a forecast high of -2º.

The official seasonal prediction is for a warmer than normal winter in New England... but that's only on average, and we can still expect plenty of cold temperatures and solid precip.

Very pretty!

We've had a tiny bit of snow here though it quickly melted; meanwhile, last I heard, they were getting slammed in the Plains and in the Midwest.

Cold but Sunny where we had our picnic.

Cold, grey and damp. You can't even get warm on these new trains brought in since the country fell into reduced circumstances but at least our local cake barge was serving hot coffee  :D .

I just looked outside my window and i was filled with abject misery.

A few days ago I was walking in well below freezing temps.  Now it is warmish and very damp.  The mold has triggered a headache which has lasted for days.

steve ridgway

It's gone all rainy today although there's still some ice around.

We're due to get a [very] tiny bit of a heat wave around here.  Might be able to get some more yardwork in?  Mixed thoughts about that (particularly the older that I get--takes longer to recover lol).  Also, a bunch of cleaning and holiday decorating that I want to get done.  Wanted to get the lights onto the tree, but wasn't happy with the LED ones that I had purchased the previous day (too stark and too cool of a white light), so went back to the store to exchange them.

A cake barge?!  Neat!  ;D Do they let you come aboard to sit and enjoy your tea/coffee time?  Or is it strictly take away?

They only have outside seating on the canal bank. We had bacon sandwiches today with loads of bacon, they were really heavy, and the dogs had things made out of venison and lamb skin :P .

Does the barge move to sell at different locations?

Mmm...bacon!  What else goes on it?  I had a yummy sandwich on Sunday:  bacon, avocado and cheese.

And spoiled pups!  Lucky dogs!  :)

Had a cool hawk experience earlier today..will mention it on the birding thread.

The barge stays put and is open six days a week, and what goes on the bacon sandwich is more bacon and red or brown sauce, much like this one.

Very wet and windy today, dog walking options were limited.

In coastal California the weather situation is getting worrisome. We have had the declaration of a supposedly strong "El Niño," which is supposed to bring a wet winter season. However, mid December is approaching with almost no precipitation. Leaving me a bit on edge.
