Streaming is better, less chaos, and you always know where to look. ;D
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Before streaming I was looking for better performance of selected music of choice. Now I can get almost any performance of music I like and listen to pieces/composers I wouldn't buy before. I'm on the move because of war and all I need to access wealth of music is connection and computer/smartphone. Can not think about what would be better?

Yes, same here  ;D

I like both.

What I like about streaming is the ability to give something a listen without having to buy it.  I can make more informed purchasing decisions, and also I don't feel the urge to religiously defend something because it is the one thing I own, or hate it because I don't like it but own it.  I also can listen to whatever I want at work.  When I was a grad student I used to load up my backpack with cds and a portable cd player before heading into the office.

What I like about buying cds is that I own it, and I can play it without needing a streaming service or reliable internet.  While the same is true for digital downloads and cd rips, I can see on the shelf my physical cds.  What I miss is that I have made discoveries by browsing physical shops.

This, a sense of ownership that I'm anxious to get rid of. Some time ago, a few years or so, I gave away hundreds of compact discs and hundreds of books that I had collected over the years, and felt a great sense of relief.

It isn't just that I'm an old man (cough, cough, wheeze), but I fear that artists and record companies aren't getting adequately compensated by the streaming services, also that here in Australia we have very poor broadband and mobile services, and some days I wouldn't be able to stream at home (because of variable broadband speeds), and in many places via mobile.

+ arbitrary loss of access to certain recordings.

I am housebound and live in a bedroom of CDs piled perilously from floor to ceiling: I would rather look at them than a computer screen waiting for a download or dodgy internet connection. As one CD tower collapses when I attempt to excavate something it's replaced by empty beer cans and full ashtrays...

This radio program on the BBC might be of interest to some of you.  Talking about why George Lloyd failed to get more recognition.

That's very welcome news, considering that the entire Albany series devoted to Lloyd's music has disappeared from streaming services recently.... >:( >:( In light of that, I just received a physical copy of the Albany recording of the magnificent A Symphonic Mass in the mail today!

I suspect the removal is in preparation for these new reissues.

I guess that there will be a reissue with the symphonies 7-12 as well, and I cross my fingers so that they do the same with the piano concertos.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

Oh wow! I thought it was gonna take a lot longer to issue them all. If they show up in boxes like that that'll be much quicker! Now in the original releases No. 1 was paired with No. 12 so that's obviously not gonna happen here. Nos. 4 and 5 each take up a disc in their own right. I also wonder what will happen to Charade, the orchestral suite paired with No. 3 in the original series.

Wow, indeed!

I will certainly buy the CD'S, for I promised myself that I had to have them. It will be almost the last CD'S I buy, for I am addicted to streaming and the infinite choice of music.

I no longer own a CD player, so that particular avenue is no longer open to me. Like you, streaming now has my heart, but I was sad to find many of the Lloyd symphonies disappearing from streaming in anticipation of the re-release. If Lyrita don't stream these, I'll buy the downloads, I guess. It really does go against the direction of travel, however...

Yes quite, I had on Qobuz his violin concerto and listen only once to it, when I wanted to hear it a second time, the buggers took it off, and left me frustrated. ;D

You have to assume they'll go on streaming otherwise what's the point of taking the originals off? Also Lyrita stuff is on spotify so...
