Yes.  When it is cool, it feels much warmer if the air is humid instead of dry.  Also I find that my nasal passages are not so dried up and congested.  Don't get me wrong, on a hot day it sucks.  But this isn't that.

Still unseasonably warm in central VT, 10ºC and I saw 13ºC earlier today in Montpelier. We had some passing showers earlier this afternoon but it seems to be over now. This is VERY unusual weather for February in VT.

Now, though, methinks I hear Punxsutawney Phil snickering at us; I know it's New England, and this is far from crazy, but new snow accumulation of 9 to 13" possible on Tuesday? Oof dah!

Not really, but yes, the winter so far has been so unseasonably mild, that a reversion to normal feels like an imposition. Fact is, too, we do need the snow.

I'm thinking mostly of the water table, this season. In a normal winter when the frosts can be sharper, snow cover is also good insulation for organisms in the soil.

Further to your point about volatility, now they're saying that the nor'easter will shove off farther south. The Natl Weather Svc now advises me to wxpect 4-8" of snow.

I feel for the people and the animals going through that.

Just read a BBC article stating that 85% of the cattle in Texas also live there.  Hard to read about the harm to them.  I suspect that a number of the cattle (that are still alive) will need to be euthanized.
