Pohjolas Daughter

Quote from: Karl Henning on June 16, 2024, 11:15:18 AMI haven't met the new Pastor (and probably will not, as things have played out.) His wife apparently has functional piano skills, and the plan seems to be that she will play along with hymns (our soon-to-be-former organist Barbara describes the result as passable ... the new pastor's previous services being on YouTube ... I haven't checked them out, myself.) I don't exactly know what other music there will be (Barbara feels it will be "canned," and I cannot gainsay her.) The extent to which the congregation will find that a satisfying experience? I'm not sanguine.
Ah, I hadn't realized that there had also been a change of pastors.  And best wishes to your friend Barbara too.

I filled out an application on a government website. There's a little graphic doo-dad moving all the time. I guess because it's a guvmint site, I should allow for it needing time. We shall see.

Feeling a little bit lost. (In form, but not in content, that would work in the Five-Word Posts thread.)

I had no idea, Karl. I'm sorry to hear about this --- praying things get better for you and your wife.

You'll figure it out.  Take help where you can get it (There's no shame there.).  Are there any ways that we can help you...particularly in terms of searching for different things like job sites, aid, resources?  I'm more than happy to spend some time googling, etc.

Just spoke with a lawyer. She tells me I've done all the right things. I had one actionable item from the meeting, and I've seen to it. Now, it's pretty much on the knees of the gods.

No choir rehearsal last night, of course. My oldest choir member, Dorothy lives in an independent living community, quite a populous place (they have their own post office branch) and she takes part in in-house theatricals, so Barbara and I went to the performance last night. Neil Simon it wasn't, but it was good fun. And it was great to see Dorothy having so much fun taking part. She played a widow, trying to cheer her daughter up with a 50th birthday party, and the dead husband turns up, missing his pants. The joke of the play is that he really is dead, and someone from Amazon comes to pick him up as a Return. The first act dragged (which isn't great for a comedy) I'm not sure that more rehearsal (and I know they worked hard as it is) would have fixed it. I think the trouble was that there were three authors. I couldn't help thinking of Evelyn Waugh's quip that two people writing a book is like three people getting together to have a baby.

Too early to party, but a clarinet choir is permitting me to send them Misapprehension & the Saltmarsh Stomp. I thought I'd uploaded MIDI demos to YouTube, but I appear to be mistaken in that.

What do you mean by mistaken by that?  As in, it doesn't work/allow?
