She does live in Belgium. While I don't clearly remember how we first connected, I think it may have been on Twitter, a long time ago.

Oh, crumbs!  I was thinking initially/hoping that she had.   :(  Has she listened to any of your music and given you any feedback?

Hi Karl!

Your description of the testing reminded me of some new therapies for paraplegics and those with chronic pain.

The theory is that since pain is in the brain, so to speak, if one can train the brain to use different pathways, the pain will go away.

An amputee (leg), who suffered for 17 years from pain in the missing leg (a typical syndrome in amputees), was placed in front of a mirror and told to concentrate on the remaining leg and to tell himself that the pain must be coming from that leg, since he only had one leg which could cause pain.

After 10 minutes, the doctor injected him with pain medication in the remaining leg, which in fact did not really hurt.

15 minutes later, the doctor returned to the room, where the patient was gently crying.

Thinking that the technique had failed, the doctor said: "So, the phantom leg's pain is still there."

"NO!  It's gone!  For the first time in 17 years, it's gone!"

Tears of relief and happiness were the result!

And yes, the pain from the phantom leg never returned!

I was told that the technique could be used to help people with a paralyzed limb.

A computer programmer has mapped out every muscle involved in certain arm movements and turned the map into computer code: the hope is that a computer chip with the map can replace the damaged nerves involved in a movement.

Fascinating stuff!  Hope for a future with a cure of sorts!

It's really amazing how the brain can be retrained. Some of my own brain retraining is related to my brain's being over-protective, since the stroke, of my left arm/shoulder. Some of my physical therapist's work with me is "passive stretching" where he has drawn my left arm out, so that my brain learns that it's okay for the limb to be out there, the short-term goal being to reopen the left shoulder,  so that we can reopen the neural pathways from the brain back down to the fingers.

Good to hear.  But go to bed....sleep helps healing.

It's a peculiar coincidence (and I have no reason to think it other than coincidental) but this is the second interview to require rescheduling because of an emergency on their side. I hope all on their end is mending, and I'll be in for an interview... sometime.

Well it's a good sign you're being invited to interviews; your résumé must be up to scratch.

Quote from: Karl Henning on August 27, 2024, 08:57:15 AMI called, and they're still doing first interviews. I think I'll look around a bit more.
Weeks later they've only now informed me that they're "going forward with other candidates." Which, since this was how I read the situation, is fine.

At least they considered you; it's most annoying when you never hear anything back.

No idea what "turn and burn" means?  Trying to recover from PT (I'm guessing)?  Hope that the interview went well.
