By the way, the thread where a quote alert DID work was the AFL thread in the Diner. So I wonder whether something has happened to certain subforums? I really don't know, but that's the only time it's worked in the last couple of days.

The alerts for being quoted are greatly delayed. I received one today about a quote from yesterday.

I just got a reply alert from a post made several hours ago.

I can't swear it wasn't there sooner, but given how quickly my eye picked it up I have to assume it's a newly-showing alert.

I'm getting reply alerts from almost two days ago. Alerts for likes show up almost immediately, however.

Yes, I'm getting some quote alerts a day late. Like alerts are immediate.

And a mention alert has taken 2 days to arrive.

I'm now also getting a database error when I try to send a PM. These may all be manifestations of the same server issues?

(Sorry, Karl, the short answer is no I don't have one!)

Similarly odd occurrences here, too.

Gremlins and landvættir...

On the very top of the screen, to the right of "My Messages." Click on it, and it will show you all your alerts.

Yes but the messages are sent nevertheless.

We also haven't had any new members register in more than 2 weeks which may also be a server issue if it stopped sending emails again.

You can be sure of that Brian. No one seems to pay attention to the fact that the server GMG is using is blacklisted by Google and Microsoft. They consider the path of the email unsafe, and the server also. (And yes I had contact about this with both companies, and they confirmed it) That in itself is a dramatic fact, and to all accounts is causing the email problems, and all the other failures. There is a way to address this, but it will cost.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

The latest alert problems are not email based though. I've never had these kinds of alerts set to the email option. For me they're supposed to be alerts appearing here on the forum. So even what should be an internal system has got a problem.

Since we seem to have a comprehensive suite of problems at the moment, I'm just hoping they are interrelated rather than requiring multiple fixes.
