Luke

You're my friends and I love you all. Please, please say a prayer or send a wish or whatever feels right for you, tonight, please, for my poor beautiful wife Philippa who died this Christmas Day just before 1.00 this afternoon. I don't know what to do now or how to cope without her but the thought of your kindness helping her on her journey from afar comforts me tonight when I can't do anything else for her. Thank you

Luke, there's nothing I can say to take away what must be an immense amount of sadness you're feeling at this moment, but please know that you and your family are in my thoughts. I'm so sorry...

She seemed like a beautiful person from the way you speak about her and I hope one day that you both will be reunited.

You have my deepest of sympathy and condolences. You're an outstanding person with a strong heart and mind --- I know that you will forge a path forward. Again, I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

P. S. I know I'm nothing more than a stranger to you, but if you need any help at all with anything don't be afraid to ask me. I'm here for you.

Dearest Luke, please accept my humble condolences. I recall what I went through after losing my wife Jana, yet I can only surmise the shape and magnitude of your very own grief. Your love for Philippa will become a strength in the coming days – and your time together a treasure. I will pray for both of you tonight. May her wonderful soul rest in peace.

Ohhh dear Luke, this pains me beyond believe, I am devastated about her passing at such a young age. To cope with such a loss is hard to imagine, and maybe impossible. she was in my thoughts every day, and when going to church I asked the congregation to pray for her, which all did. I will keep doing that, and that she may enter the gates of paradise, where there is no pain, no sickness. I will ask God to take her in his arms and comfort her, and you!. You have my deepest compassion, be sure of that! I am shattered by this news.

Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

Oh my, Philippa was much too young to suffer such a disease and fate, and you are too young for such a loss, and yet...

An old wisdom states that "Man proposes, and God disposes."  (In German, Der Mensch denkt, und Gott lenkt.)

Some years ago, I wrote the following:

Quote"God always does the unexpected.  It is not enough to bow our heads and say that such a death, so early, so unwanted, was God's will, and that we must accept it, and wait until eternity for an answer.  That is a road to despair, with fist-shaking resentment and incomprehension.

We do not need to wait, because we already know why these things happen: they are connected to the Love that binds us together, the Love that gave birth to the Universe.  Tragedies are an opportunity to Love.  There can be no other purpose for them.
"

Our prayers for you and your family will continue: I do not need to say that your children will need and depend upon you more than ever.

My grandmother, after a life where she had buried a 14-year old daughter, her grandparents, her parents, and her husband, once remarked that, no matter how sad such deaths make us, eventually joy returns, our memories of those whom we have lost will make us smile, and laughter will be more than a possibility.

Our condolences to you at a most difficult time!

Luke,

I cannot express the sadness I feel over the loss you and your family have suffered. The one thought that would bring me comfort in this situation is that, wherever she is, pain and suffering cannot touch her now.

@Luke

I am so sorry for your loss and for the pain that both of you went through--in some different and some of the same ways.  It sounds like it was a horrible struggle for both of you.  I hope and pray that you have close loved ones to help you through these painful times.  And please don't be afraid to reach out--whether it's to a religious leader or to a general councilor or a support group...and to your friends and family.

With love,

K

I'm so very sorry @Luke to hear of your loss. It must be especially hard at a time of year when people are gathering together to lose someone so dear to you.

I can only hope that there are family and friends gathering around you and giving you the love and care that you need. Meanwhile there will be lots of people "here" thinking of you, even if only from a distance.

It will take some time to find any solace. I hope that when the time is right, music is one of the things that will be able to bring solace to you.
