Thinking about what to have alongside my braised beef short ribs (last serving of them me thinks):  Salad? Veggies? Both? And Polenta, pasta, or mashed potatoes?  A very tasty recipe, but meat is getting so expensive.  $12.99 a pound (Augh!).

Snowing outside now, so hearty meal sounds good.  😊

What did you decide on? Offhand, I'd say we already have a good four inches, and it's still falling strong.

Quote from: Karl Henning on January 19, 2025, 01:44:24 PMWe seem to be looking at 4-8" of new snow tonight and tomorrow. I'm cozy at home with the parakeet.

We're supposed to get some snow in Lower Alabama on Tuesday, a rare occurrence here. The last time was 2017. They had been predicting up to 5 inches, but currently just one.

I went for easy; penne pasta and steamed broccoli.

How much snow did you end up getting in the end?

Going out to shovel soon here.

I live in Minnesota, so it is bitterly cold. Like I've lived all over the Midwest, and Minnesota is the first place where I had to wear actual winter clothing (I have serious gear now).

-32 Celcius or - 25.6 Fahrenheit this morning.

Cold, to be very clear, but not unusual for mid January.

Dante definitely spent time in Minnesota before publishing his Inferno.

We moved to Missouri from Massachusetts in 2018. Here in the southernmost of the 12 Midwestern states it's nothing like the upper Midwest, thankfully,  but the temperatures fluctuate wildly. 50 one day, then 20 then 5 degrees (now), soaring up to 21 today. But still preferable to other regions.

Because of the kind of work I do, I had to move from the heaven that is New Mexico to the hell that is Minnesota, although, I will say "Minnesota Nice" is not a myth. :)

What a transition.

Yikes!  :o

Meanwhile, I'm watching tennis players battling it out in toasty Melbourne [Not quite certain how toasty].  It's something like 20-ish (F) here.  Round 1 of shoveling done; a bit more to do.  Enjoying some coffee at the moment.

I've always wanted to visit New Mexico--particularly Santa Fe (including going to an opera there).

I was briefly in Santa Fe once, for work. Everything has to be Adobe style. Even the target store had an adobe exterior. Once you get inside you could be in Newark, for all you could tell. :)

New Mexico, heaven? Ok, it's hot, but it's a dry heat, like an air fryer. :)

I was catching some repeats at the time.  Tennis players normally aren't on the court that late or early.  ;)  Though some evening matches have started and gone ungodly late--plus add on the cooling off time/post match interviews/eating, etc., they can be going to bed later than that!   :(
