[Elgarian Redux]

Warmly appreciated! It surprises you how this work tires the brain, of all things. I'm grateful for the therapist who is invested in the journey.

I'm aware of course that it's not always wise to quote facile aphorisms to someone who is struggling, but I'm reminded that many years ago a friend suggested that we ran to the top of a local mountain together. (He called it a hill. I called it a mountain.)

Anyway, about 3/4 of the way up I was utterly exhausted, at the end of my rope. 'It's no good,' I groaned (hardly able to speak), 'I need to stop.'

He was still breathing easy, as fresh as a daisy. A reassuring word of encouragement and understanding would have been nice. But it was time for the aphorism.
'No pain, no gain!' he smirked.

I'm amazed that our friendship survived.

I'm not certain as to what the rules are these days in terms of how long to wait before contacting/calling/letting a company know that you are interested about working for them, etc.  One of my thoughts is to do research about the company, their goals, history, and accomplishments, what they have done and care about in their community/elsewhere/and what they are trying to achieve and think about how you would be an asset to them (amongst other things).  Just some thoughts.

I'm not certain as to what the rules are these days in terms of how long to wait before contacting/calling/letting a company know that you are interested about working for them, etc.  One of my thoughts is to do research about the company, their goals, history, and accomplishments, what they have done and care about in their community/elsewhere/and what they are trying to achieve and think about how you would be an asset to them (amongst other things).  Just some thoughts.

What I thought would be a short nap actually bloomed into quite a  deep sleep. I awoke, thinking it was Thursday morning.

Not an all-out crisis, but one member of the band (much though he has tried) is unable to adjust his teaching schedule, and cannot participate in the King's Chapel concert on Tuesday, 8 April. I need to dream up a program for a trio. Not going to happen today, but soon.

We're a little closer to finalizing the engraving job. If it comes through, and even allowing for the fact that there will be some gap between my delivering the score and parts, and the check arriving, it would dull the sting of not yet finding steady employment. Of course, this job is a "one and done" affair.
