Quote from: Que on February 23, 2025, 09:07:02 AMSolid investments. Particularly the Händel cantatas set is a real treasure trove.

Thank you! Definitely looking forward to listening to these sets.

  I'm looking forward to it...

Wow, 80 CDs :o . Loads of great music in there - Stravinsky, Ruggles, Debussy, Bartók, Mahler, Ravel, Respighi, Ives, Berlioz, Strauss, Mahavishnu Orchestra  8) .

BTW If you search Supraphonline.cz for Michael Tilson Thomas there are lots of FLAC downloads for 199 Kč ($8 some) including some large multi CD sets. I'm sure someone there changes the prices using SQL ;D .

I recently listened to this one. I liked it but wanted a bit more fire.

@ ChamberNut: Good shot my friend ! For my money this is the most original, captivating realization of this masterpiece. Letzbor recorded the sonatas before (like, 20 years ago ?) and it's very fine, but this is miles ahead of that earlier effort. I look forward to your comments !

While I didn't expect your vow about no more purchases for the year to last until the end of February, the degree to which you're purchasing in February has exceeded my expectations.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Yes, it kinda went from "not buying anything until Christmas" to "change of plans, I'm trying to break my own record for most purchases in February"

Well my downloading from Qobuz exceeds my CD buying, for every month I add about 150 recordings, but that does not count huh? ;D  ;D

For this conversation, it only counts if there's a huge difference between planned quantity and actual quantity!

@Harry Perhaps I misunderstood:  was your number referring to individual works (compositions) or complete CDs?

;D I can't say anything other than I'm just that hefty kid whose hand is stuck in the cookie jar.

As to @ChamberNut, I can't speak for you obviously, but personally I feel that I'm actually tapping a bit more into my classical roots as Baroque music has been there since the inception. It's just I took A LONG hiatus from it to explore other musical interests and listening to Bach is what pulled me back in big-time. But I'm going to try and keep my listening as varied as I can as I don't want to overindulge in particular period or composer. But lately, I am finding it difficult to not listen multiple Bach works in row. The music is just so glorious!
