What is going on there?  Seriously:  Are they concerned about what their money is going to be spent on?  Why not just give you a gift certificate to Amazon--or to another company (utilities?)?  Why the restrictions?  I understand that you are dealing with some health issues and I feel for you, truly.

My interpretation was that hopefullytrusting is not in the habit of treating himself to nice things, so his family makes him buy himself a few gifts before they then buy him a few more.

JBS

It must be admitted that "my family made me buy this" is a new one in the GMG annals, and contrasts with the more usual "I need to hide this from my family".

Some more bargains, I can't keep up listening. I should stop buying ...

The first half of life is spent in longing for the second, the second half in regretting the first.

@Kalevala this is exactly it.

My life, in general, is one of pretty extreme minimalism, so I own, physically, very little, so they know if they give me money I will not spend it on something I enjoy or want, so this is sort of what we have come up with. Also, it is not meant to be taken too seriously - they just want to make sure that I have a little bit of fun. :P

Quote from: hopefullytrusting on March 08, 2025, 06:15:47 PMMy birthday is upcoming, and my family forces me to buy things that I wouldn't otherwise, so here is some of what is coming (first two are physical, last is digital):

Excellent choice! :)

Bach's gamba sonatas played on cello, plus some Kurtag. I have and know nothing by Kapustin and Kurtag.
