Daar sluit ik me bij aan! :)
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

Dank Harry voor je, bevestigende, bericht.

I quit again.

This forum is in some respects asocial. I feel too much social pain which makes it almost impossible to participate.
It deforms me. In fact I tend not to listen anymore to classical music.

It's only for folks who want warm chatter, like if it's consumption, like if it's more of a market than a community although I believe it's natural behaviour too. The fact is that individuals, like me, can easily feel to be excluded. That exclusion is real, in some ways factual, of which many are, assumingly, aware. Then they must adapt, and regain standing, and I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna play that game.

Of course there are limits to a digital space. Of course not anybody can be likeminded, but I think we must prevent exclusionary, unreasonably, aggressive practices against individuals.

I might try a bit longer.

I expressed my feelings, doubts and thoughts. Open communication.

Let me know what you think.

I do think social media can be insidious, and it can be great, just a question of which one outweighs the other for you I guess, but I do understand your ambivalence. FWIW I've found the posts of yours I've seen interesting and think it would be nice if you hung around, but obviously you should do what suits you. Good luck with it all. : )

You're always welcome here.  If people disagree with you, that doesn't mean that they don't want to converse with you.  Please stay.

Thanks for the replies.

I should not condemn 'warm chatter' only because I had a bad experience, but 'social pain' made me feel and think that way.

I'm not a GMG person.

A quite by Henry Miller: 'Why paint? For whom? Enjoy what you see. That's quite enough. The man who can do this is an accomplished artist.'

This quote makes me somewhat understand GMG'ers. But I don't think most of you understand me. If there's no understanding and you want to keep GMG what it means for you and only for you, I'm gone.

It's a boring, moralistic place to me. More than before. Nasty and cold. You seem to like it.

Henk

I paint because I must paint.

But very few of you showed appreciation.

Was this really necessary?

I just express my evaluation of what I've been going through the past few days here. It's from my point of view, probably nobody here shares my perception.

I might be too self-obsessed but that's selfprotection.

Henk

I watched the video in the Star Trek interview (in the thread being discussed) a bit. But I think there's a point in it.

Not appreciating emotions, surpress and repress them, might turn out quite spooky, inhumane and anti-social.

I don't say to give it free reign, but I think I've been clear. There's a life-drive and a death drive involved and as Stiegler writes those are not opposed, but should compose.

So you protect yourself by insulting other people. Interesting.

No, it's a nasty, cold place from my perception and I said I don't understand you. Probably there's annoyance, that's my perception, but you don't express, you become nasty and cold in trying to win the argument.

Even the likes-button gets abused from a social point of view. Miserable.

Henk

To repeat in different words: This is not my world, it seems that it's the world of others, and if it conflicts then it's time to depart, not so much a devaluation of the one or the other or a valuation of one over the other.

Henk

GMG was a part of my life and I've finally see what it is and that it's not for me.

Thanks for the kindness in the past, that's the only positive. I had fun, but it's worth nothing.

My art will stay. GMG will perish.  >:D
