Thanks, K. Be safe!

A pumpkin?!  I've heard of some strange things before--like a car on top of a building on the MIT campus....

It made national news, I thought

Whoever did it seems to have climbed the steps inside the bell tower, but climbing over the eaves and scaling the tower roof with a 60 lb pumpkin was in impressive feat.

Miserable here in Finland. No summer yet. +20 degrees C has been hard to reach. Constant rain and nighly frost temps.

Sounds like what we were experiencing here on the east coast (US).  It's now gone to the other extreme: 80's and upper 90's.  Whatever happened to mid-70's, sunny, with a gentle breeze?

Climate change, of course. :(

Currently 28ºC in central Vermont, expecting a high of 34ºC (93ºF) for both today and tomorrow.

Yep. So depressing. I have experienced ONE "summery" day in Helsinki (it was June 15 I believe) when it actually went over 20°C a little bit. So many of the days have been +16°C, overcast and some rain. Do I have to move to Spain to experience the warmth of the Sun on my skin??  ::)

Well, at least my apartment stays cool... ...so there is that, but this is so boooring and lame!

In Finland, 9 months of the year is chilly to very cold and the rest 3 months can be warm, but this year that hasn't been the care (except for the one day I mentioned above and even that one wasn't THAT hot). We have missed so many of the potentially warm days already... ...the only hope is August will be exceptionally warm, but we'll see...

There'a always at least one heat wave near the end of June/start of July in which Massachusetts gets to be hotter than Florida.

It's currently (circa 3 PM) 90 F degrees where I am in SoFla, "feels like" 99 F, 69% humidity.

Which is why the parade for the reigning Stanley Cup champions was held on A1A ("Where The Boys Are" territory) and not near their actual arena, which is about 15 miles inland and built on what used to be the Everglades.

Be careful what you wish for... just check the temperatures across the eastern US today. My weather station recorded 35ºC today with a dew point over 25ºC, which meant a heat index of about 42ºC.

Personally, 16ºC sounds just peachy right now... though not for days on end in the summer, true.

I wish it was +16°C today. Right now it is +12°C (feels like +10°C) and raining. It could be September. At this point I am so desperate for warmth I'd take your +35°C...

Supposed to hit about 38C today.  A friend of mine puts a small window a/c in every summer though he needs an assist on the outside while he's securing it on the inside.  I told him that we're doing it today (after he gets off of work) and to have everything ready.

I was on the ball and got mine in a few days ago before the heatwave struck.

Our niece married a Louisiana native and they moved back here to New England. While many houses here do have central air conditioning, he was somewhat surprised it wasn't common to most. But when the a.c. is only needed for 2 or 3 months a year, using window units works fine.

Take care when helping your neighbor. It doesn't take long to feel the ill effects of the sun in this weather.

He's been dealing with some other things lately:  one of his sisters is struggling with the late stages of cancer.  The a/c only really cools one room in his house, but at least it gives him some respite.  I've helped him in the past get his a/c in, but particularly due to the heat predictions, I wanted him to have everything prepped so that we wouldn't be suffering in the heat.

All should go well.  :)

Currently, it's a beautiful day, but it's 93°F with 47% humidity and virtually no wind. So yeah, it's hot, but there's a heatwave happening across the entire US right now. Stay cool everyone.

I never take my ac out of the window. It weighs over 100 lbs and I'm a pitiful weakling.

It's 101° now. It looks like relief won't come until tomorrow night.

A cool hug to you.

Things went awry here:  friend made plans yesterday (and didn't tell me until today) to have work done on one of his two vehicles.  Trying to reach him.

K

Edit:  found out both vehicles need work.....

Not exactly. It is cooler than usual here in west Texas.
