Well, choir and orchestra might be too tall an order --- not for you but for performance prospect. Maybe soloists and Henning Ensemble could be more feasible?

A friend and fellow composer was down earlier today, posting: Yesterday I had a day where I felt like quitting music composition altogether. Composers get treated like shit a lot, and yours truly is no exception. I don't really want to get into the details publicly, but suffice to say, I got metaphorically kicked in the teeth.

I have written to him: Say, [N.] Would you have capacity to write a five-minute piece for "my band's" October concert? Some of the members' scheduling is dicey, so it will be safest if you write for quartet.
Player A: C flute or picc.
Player B: C or Alto flute
Player C: Soprano or bass clarinet
Player D: Bassoon.
We should need parts by (say) August's end.
He is game.

I'm at the Library now, and a gentleman librarian with whom I am on good terms is on duty. (Although, you know, I cannot think of any librarian with whom I am on poor terms.) I have wanted to apprise him of the concert. He will be on duty then, so he shall hear us, will he, nil he. He's looking forward to it, though.
