Watched the last 15 min of hawks/giants. Quite relieved that our bogey team GWS is out of the way.

Either Crows or Hawks for us next. I feel fairly "ok" about that  ???

Good luck in the game shortly @Holden .Get the job done!!

If you only saw the last 15 minutes, you missed the part where a 42 point lead evaporated.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Holden,

Well, that match took a while to get going, but BOY did it get going!

And that score review at the end, crazy. A goal would have actually been BETTER to concede than a point.

I was out on an errand so kept checking the AFL app now and then...then I saw 73-73 with 5 min to go. Sat in the car, actually watching the end of the game on the phone instead. Incredible ending!!!

I was watching on a delay of about 1 hour. Which required me to studiously avoid finding out what you'd been posting on this thread.

It wasn't going too good when they went ahead for the first time with less than ten minutes to go but recovered when Mac Andrew went forward. When I saw who was taking that last kick and all we needed was a behind I knew the match was ours. I actually thought he'd kicked a major. Full credit to Freo for coming back at us in the last quarter.

Next week we take on the Lions and that won't be easy. I hope they make plenty of tickets available for us Suns fans as the Gabba is only an hour up the road.
Cheers

Yes, Brisbane v Gold Coast in a final for the first time will be fun.

Congrats. Saw a tidbit on the AFL twitter feed that the Suns always ended 12th to 17th or something like that, Dima comes in and he takes you to 7th. He did a great job. Damn it  :P

Did I hear correctly that the scorer of your winning behind had been at the club since its creation and being asked to leave several times!! but always stuck it out? Kudos to that guy.

The issue at the Suns (and a number of other GC sporting clubs for that matter) has always been the culture. I mean, paying Ablett Jr that obscene amount of money to come in and then for him to fracture the playing group the toxic way he and his chosen acolytes did set them back so far. While I'll give Dimma full credit for what has been achieved, it's also how the Suns have restructured their whole system starting with management and working down from there. Maybe they looked at how Geelong runs their club (has to be a reason they've been so consistent over the last decade or so) and took a leaf out of their book.

And yes, David Swallow was a founding player. Hardwick didn't have to play him but he realised that by doing so he was delivering the rest of the playing group a strong message - we value and will reward loyalty. For him to kick the winning behind just added so much power to that message.

Hmmm...Hawks it is next week then. From the chunks I saw, the Crows never really had a look in.

It is down to us to make them swallow their wizard hats next week  >:D

Hawthorn do give me the impression of being able to rise to the occasion for these big games. They rolled Collingwood when it really mattered to their final chances for example (and then of course Collingwood turned out to be wobbling for weeks).

Adelaide... well, an unenviable bit of history as minor premiers. But it's been a very tight season.

Also... I wasn't sure how many Victorian teams were going to be at the pointy end of the season, and they've been winning all their finals. An all-Victorian preliminary final!
