He does have a look on his face which could say "You really want to dare me?  Good luck buddy!"  ;)

Genuin is a label that features young artists from the top German Conservatories - an endless fount of bright talents. I haven't been disappointed by any of their releases so far.

Just ordered off Discogs.

The next cab off the rank in the "your price is a bit high but not horrifying and my expectations are shifting" category.

There was a somewhat cheaper copy (but still not cheap) without a slipcase. I went with the slipcase. There was also another Discogs seller that just never bothered replying to messages, anywhere.

Laughing....

So, how many left to go in the already-released category?  :)

p.s.  Had to change things as I wandered into the Forbidden Zone.

There are 3 that are supposed to be en route (my level of trust for sellers varies but they should all eventually get here), and 7 not yet bought - though that includes the very recent release that shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm still absolutely kicking myself for missing out on 3 second-hand volumes that appeared at a Discogs shop in Rome. If I hadn't completely fumbled a question to them, I could have had a really good deal.

Sounds like you're making good progress!  Have you run across any that you really disliked (or didn't click with) overall that you are thinking of either reselling or donating, etc.?

Well, yes...

Quotethat you are thinking of either reselling or donating, etc.?

...well, no. You're asking somebody with a distinct liking for sets, who decided to strike out and buy over 70 recordings when he had only heard a selection of them, whether he's now considering getting rid of some of them? It doesn't work like that. Frankly, the question seems odd when you've observed what I'm doing.

The only ones I would get rid of are the concerto/voices box set re-releases that look different, if I decide at some point to be especially silly and aim to get the 5/6 discs in each box in their original stand-alone form. With cardboard slipcases otherwise the switch would be unnecessary.

The only discard thus far is that ridiculous free gift that turned out to be an album by a convicted arsonist and murderer. Which, as previously flagged, is now somewhere in the local garbage dump.

Shocker: I don't have anything by Alkan.

Version for string orchestra. There have been a number of arrangements for different combinations of instruments. I don't know who did this one.

Graffin is one of my favourite violinists.

I have a grand total of one CD of music by Alkan in my collection!

I'm glad to say that unlike other problems, these two have very easy solutions.  8)

Where to start with Medtner, if I may ask?

You beat me 1-0 for Alkan. I beat you 2-0 for Medtner. 😉

This is what I have and I certainly recommend it as starters:

If you prefer just piano (sans orchestra), there are multiple options to choose from. Chandos seem to have released quite a few discs of his solo piano music.

The piano sonatas (Hamelin) and the piano concerti (Tozer 1-3, Alexeev 1, Demidenko 2-3) are good places to start. Two pianos: Knight errant (Alexeev/Demidenko). For chamber music, the violin sonatas (especially fond of Mordkovitch in 1-2). Two more favourites of mine: the Second Improvisation and the Sonate-Vocalise.

Thanks, @André and @Wanderer , for the suggestions. I need to explore...

Also these two by Hamish Milne

I would suggest going for the Skazki first, but I'm not sure about its availability.

I have 4 discs of Medtner (the Hyperion ones by Milne which are 2 discs each, and the Skazki were hard to find) and 0.5 discs of Alkan.
