Quote from: Papy Oli on February 04, 2026, 03:07:31 AMIt has been quite cheaper for me in the past (Nielsen box for instance). You can get 10% off if you sign up to their newsletter, code WELCOME20.

I already get their newsletter so I just kind of passed that bit by.

Their site seemed to work pretty smoothly, and I definitely got access to the booklet (which I actually had from eClassical anyway, but let's make it official) and I think I've downloaded everything. Using their "download all tracks" button seemed to miss one but it was easy enough to go click on that particular one.

This might later lead down a rabbit hole of buying other Dacapo digital-only albums.

EDIT: Occasionally they forget to put something in English despite me picking that in the settings. My increasingly rusty and basic Danish still comes in handy.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

There's always that risk!  >:D

Enjoy!

I have surprisingly little Dutilleux (only 2 CDs).

You're only missing a few (important!) works like the Symphony No. 2 and Metaboles.

I have that (remember: 2 CDs). Between these two discs I even managed to duplicate one work (The Shadows of Time). 😝

A CD art cover is a silly détail to notice but I was lured by this one (Egon Schiele). Plus the fact I've loved the last few discs of Nott and his Bambergers I've heard.

I liked the whole set.

A real rarity: works by Ildebrando Pizzetti and Ítalo Montemezzi, arranged for piano four-hands by Mario Pilati. The performers are Marcos Madrigal and Alessandro Stella.

Of Montemezzi, we get his symphonic poem Paolo e Virginia (the original orchestral version remains unrecorded AKAIK) and of Pizzetti, the Tre preludi sinfonici per l' "Edipo Re" di Sofocle and the Concerto dell'Estate.

Yes, it is my favorite modern set.

I was watching the old 1956 film version of Moby Dick. I have always been impressed with the film score.

I was not familiar with the music of Phillip Sainton. I had always assumed the Sainton was a minor English film composer. I did some research and found out that I was wrong. He was a successful classical composer and Moby Dick was his only film score. I then discovered the following Naxos recording of the complete film score.

A superb score, one of the most evocative I've heard.

Rave reviews convinced me to give this a ty.

Not listed on the back cover: Bruckner's Te Deum on disc 11

The Raphael symphony is intriguing. A 75 minute work, it was premiered in 1926 by Furtwängler but it seems to have fallen into oblivion. The CPO set of the symphonies contains 2-5 only (they are terrific).

Sonatas, various small pieces and the violin and piano concerto

A strange, disparate program, but I tend to like these seemingly random assortments of pieces. And I love the sound of a Fazioli.

Both of these 2-disc sets sold for under 2€, new.

Sibelius' songs were composed with a piano accompaniment, but Sibelius, his son-in-law Jussi Jalas and a few others had a hand in providing orchestral transcriptions of the piano parts.

One of the most interesting French contemporary composers.

I had already started streaming this, but when I saw that the set is available for $21 at Presto, I decided to buy.  I even decided to splurge and spend the $26 for high res, in the event that future tech improvements actually yield better audible results from such files.
