Haven't heard Tennstedt's Wagner. The Solti is in this incarnation:

Thanks. It was the 1958 to 1965 recordings I heard. I have not heard the 1980's.
I see Decca 2CD has a combination of both, and maybe newly remastered. I will have to check it out.

Mozart
Quintet in E-flat for piano, oboe, clarinet, horn & bassoon (1784), K.452

Maraviglioso!

The 2nd SQ from this set. I am going trough those very slowly.

The CDs are not organized chronologically, I'm glad I got the mp3s instead.

Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life. - Ludwig van Beethoven

Mozart
Adagio and Rondo for glass harmonica, flute, oboe, viola & cello (May 1791), K.617

Dolcissima!

Don

Rontgen's Three Cello Concertos on Etcetera.  No. 1 isn't so hot, but 2 and 3 are wonderful examples of romantic era dialogues between cello and orchestra.  Actually, I find no. 2 as rewarding as Dvorak's Cello Concerto.

This is a fine disc (which I've recommended somewhere).  I also like Etceteras double with chamber music and songs.....in fact I will play that as soon as I am finished with Rautavaaras fine 3rd symphony (on Naxos).

Wow! Along with his superb Brahms Fourth with the same orchestra, this disc is one of the reasons I'm starting to love Michael Gielen's work.

By "Moscow Studio Archives" they apparently mean "live in Amsterdam." But with music-making of this calibre, who cares?

A great recording Edward.  I have likened it to hearing Beethoven actually playing in a cold, drafty, candle lit apartment  with the chilled air trying to push its way through every crack in the old building.  Absolutely memorable.
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

I am in love!
Bernstein would be drooling in envy - but more importantly, he would be dancing!

Q

Goodmorning Que.

Since I put that one in the Refusal bin, I am a little puzzled why you bought this on, and why you play it that often? :)
Could you explain this to me?
