Oh, I know, but that is only because he was locked out of his old one and this shouldn't be happening.

Today, I keep getting the message "The server is under high stress.  Please try again shortly."

This seems to be coming up when I click on "Updated" not when I click on "Unread".

Pretty slow right now. With 10280 users (bots) online today it shouldn't surprise at all.

Will the quite long What are you listening 2 now thread have to do with the slowness as well? Time for a new thread on that topic?
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL more than ever!

I continue to get the Forbidden message in the Hurwitz thread --- appropriately enough.

That's the one that, if I'm going to get the dreaded FM, it's normally in that thread.

Site is online, offline, disappearing altogether, site down completely, does not load messages, much is wrong in the Kingdom of Fu.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

That should be a sign... :)

Too difficult to log in today, let alone to post, and there are a few bots.

Indeed there a few. Because the peak number of people on the site today is over 4,000.

It's much better now than it was a few hours ago. The site is still being a bit inconsistent but basic browsing and posting seems to be relatively successful.

Sad to see that.  I keep getting long delays along with some occasional timing outs. :(

Of course, almost as soon as I posted that message about things being better, I had the site time out on me completely.  ::)

I've been receiving this message over the past couple of days when I try logging in to GMG.

The site is even worse at the moment as yesterday, and the message of the server or connection not being safe, is one I got over the last few years on a regular basis, and tried to tell Rob about this but to no avail. Anyway posting is difficult, even if it is temporarily possible. Dysfunctional at the moment. with moment of clear sight.

Some context, from an article I just saw: now more than half of all traffic on the entire internet is bots. Fewer than half of all the "people" using the internet are people.

Never had a warning like this. But maybe I should use Chrome as browser for GMG instead.

This doesn't surprise me. Actually I thought the percentage of bots were higher.

On our site it certainly is higher. Right now 8 users and 1,000 guests are viewing pages!

Rob has told us privately that he is looking at measures to block the bots, but I don't want to promise anything because he may find a different solution or get delayed.

The dead internet theory is finally manifesting.  Expanded agentic AI will make it worse.

GMG uses legacy tech, which, anecdotally, attracts a higher proportion of bots.
